Does anyone here know, in the context of Death or God, any reference involving square toes? It came up in a book my friend is reading, and he wants to try to figure out its meaning. Thanks.

Welcome to the SDMB. A lot of times, Death is personified in literature as having square toes. I don’t know why. “Square-toed” used to mean kind of uptight and overly-orderly, but I don’t know if that has anything to do with Death. If you search on Google for **“square toes” death** you’ll get a lot of hits.
