The folksong _The Fox_ dates back hundreds of years. The modern lyrics of final verse begin: “The fox and his wife without any strife Cut up the goose **with a fork and knife**.” I am fond of the version by Nickel Creek, but there are other nice ones. ---

Triangle pieces are the best. Square cut pizza is for that thin crust abomination they serve in the midwest that, while not inedible, is worse than little caesar’s and certainly doesn’t deserve the name “pizza” like a proper New York style, or hell even a Chicago deep dish. ---

Nah. If I had to eat one style of pizza for the rest of my life, it’s be Vito and Nick’s square cut tavern pizza, with either beef and giardiniera or sausage and peppers, onions, mushrooms. I’ll also settle for some Zaffiro’s in Milwaukee or Wells Brothers in Racine. (Maria’s in Milwaukee, too, but they closed shop a year or two ago :() I love my Neapolitan and East Coast styles, but nothing tastes as great to me as that pizza. If you have Little Caesars that are that good, I’d like to try them. ---

I first encountered circular pizza cut into squares after moving to IL, and that degeneracy is just one small reason of many why I try to fly over that part of the country. ---

It’s entirely based on the type of a pizza. A traditional “pie” round pizza with edge crust is best eaten “pie sliced.” I live in area where the majority of pizza-lovers somehow absolutely hate pizza dough, sauce, pretty much anything that normally makes a good pizza. They are obsessed with having the thinnest possible almost-nonexistent “crust” with sauce and cheese that are just kind of there, as a delivery vehicle for as many toppings that can fit as possible (usually edge to edge pepperoni). For these pizza/folks, rectangles work. I’ve rarely seen "square’ cut and it’s a pet peeve of mine when rectangles are referred to as squares. One of the earliest things I remember learning in elementary school was that all squares are rectangles but (of course) not all rectangles are square. ---
