I looked at that. But it’s nice to be able to grab the grocery list and put it in my pocket, and it’s handy to leave the theater tickets and coupons there. And a white board doesn’t help with that.
It would be kind fun.
If you want to really dress up your fridge, I found this:
(they make lots of designs, this is just a fun sample)
Not cheap, and not magnetic (I asked) but it wouldn’t show fingerprints. And it would make people smile.
So they can’t take your deck apart and steal it while you are on vacation. You’d complain if your were hanged with a new rope!
I think it would be cool to have a refrigerator that people would stick stupid little drawings to with magnets.
Damn, I lose enough stuff in the science-experiment corners of my fridge as it is. Though, on the other hand, if you could run it back to when these mysterious fuzzy blobs were still fresh …
We have a stainless steel refrigerator, and I don’t understand the fingerprint issue. I guess the OP has sticky-fingered kids, so that’s her issue, but we’ve had ours for 14 years, and I’ve never had an issue with fingerprints. I wipe it down occasionally, but it’s not like I’m always cleaning because OMG fingerprints!!! Before our dogs (dachshunds) passed away, I thought we might have nose prints on the fridge drawer front, but nope to that, too.
It’s not magnetic either which is fine with me. I did the refrigerator magnet thing for a while years ago, but just found it kinda tacky and got rid of them all. De gustibus…
A penny weighs 0.088 oz. It is 2.5% copper. So a penny provides 0.0022 oz of copper. 5 pennies would bring 0.011 oz of copper, or roughly 3/10 of a gram. So, not much.
I hate my stainless steel refrigerator. Bought it for the new house in 2008. About a week after purchase, my nephew who was about 4 at the time, ran in and placed his grubby paw on the fridge. To this day, there is a handprint about 2 feet from the bottom. Palm and all 5 fingers. No amount of scrubbing, wiping, “special stainless steel refrigerator cleaner/polisher” will remove it.
Other stains also are vexing. It gets fingerprints and smudges seemingly by osmosis. Just standing next to the dams thing gets it mucked up.
And when I tired to apply a little elbow grease with the recommended soft cloth, it made scratchy lines. And any amount of pressure creates a bright spot easily discernible from the base matte hue. Now I’m afraid to try to use any sort of wipe or cloth on it. I sure wish I had a white Frigidaire that would clean up easily with a cloth and a squirt of 409.
And, no, it does not hold a magnet.
That damn handprint! Every day it mocks me.
(And it’s not some knockoff brand. It’s an LG that cost dearly).
I’ll take stainless or another bare metal style finish. Matches everything. Black and white are fine I guess, but not as neutral. Metal finish is better at hiding scratches etc, I could care less about finger prints, but not much less. Wipe the thing and use the handles from now on.
There used to be a lot of models available in faux Stainless finish that were magnetic, maybe that has changed.
Yeah. My best friend has a stainless fridge with the OP’s problem, it only allows magnets on the side. We bought one a couple of years later, and it does allow magnets on the front. No issues with fingerprints either, so I guess it has the same coating as yours.
