I got mine at the hobby shop. There’s probably one in one of the counties near you- they sell keen stuff like model rockets, radio controlled planes, and model kits of classic monsters like Dracula. BTW Anybody else hear rumors that some company called Aura or something is going to be releasing a bunch of models based on the Universal Studios movies? I read something about it in Famous Monsters, but I lost issue in a game of Feudal.
Hey! That gives me an idea. The Man Trap had a vampire (kinda). I wonder if they’ll do episodes with space werewolves, or a mummy, or I bet a space Frankenstein would work. They find a brilliant scientist reanimating the dead or maybe making killer androids.
Aw crap, I thought it was 63. Forget the Aurora model joke as those would have come out in 63-64. Forgive me, I was born in 75. It’s very dificult to find certain things in my apartment and check the date and my computer is giving me problems. :smack: Walking over to the case and checking the bottom of my Lightning Striking Wolfman (these were the ones with glow in the dark pieces) it’s marked 1962.*
I see ro-butt as an acceptable variation. The scientists who built Electro, the Westinghouse Man, call him “ro-butt” all the time. And they have short haircuts, ties and labcoats. You know a scientist like that would never steer you wrong.
Actually, Kirk was maintaining a calm facade because at that point he realized he had to maintain control over Charlie. He was experiencing great angst at what happened, but if he fell apart in front of Charlie, he’d lose control of the situation. A very subtle bit of acting by Shatner. I have a feeling there will be many more examples of Shatner’s understated style in future episodes. He definitely doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to overact.
I’m only ten years old now, but when I grow up I will appreciate how the characters did seem to be pretty consistent through the series. Then I’ll tell myself they’re actors. It’s their job to appear on the set, barely knowing each other, and act as if they are old friends.
In Corbomite, Bones and Kirk seemed very antagonistic toward one another, but in this ep it’s already beginning to be toned down.
thwartme You say the “I want to stay” at the end is creepy? I’ll see that and raise you the woman whose face was taken away. Oooggghg, ooooghhh, I’ll be remembering that in 38 years lemme tell you. Only problem with that scene was they cut it too short; you can barely see what happened to her.
(To the OP: I should know this, but where’s a good ep guide in broadcast order?)
^^^2004: Remember, king is posting in broadcast order–Where No Man Has Gone Before, the ep with Gary Mitchell, will not be broadcast until “next week,” so unless you’ve read a fanzine with plot details, you wouldn’t necessarily know who Gary Mitchell was.
