Maybe all the Star Fleet bureaucrats were at a meeting on Vulcan when it bit the dust. As for the OP, everything. I’d be interested in seeing what Kirk does when he gets the message from Talos IV. Probably say to the Talosians, “I know there is a chick under that big head, let me at her.” ---
