I gather you can’t turn over a rock without finding a Cali class bopping around doing third or fourth-tier Starfleet work. Probably one of the reasons their captains aren’t invited to that big party from the doopler episode. There are just too many of them. But also it’s a Star Trek season finale, and that means an epic deus ex machina moment. ---

That was planned right from the start. They made the character art closely resemble the actors specifically to allow a live-action crossover. ---
