Well we know it won’t happen because we’ve seen the trailers…but it’d be hilarious if everyone on The Titan was killed, and the rest of the show was Raffi and Worf (Cue Starsky and Hutch theme song)

Couple of other things we havent mentioned i saw:

Frakes directed.

Whatever deaging they were using on Stewart was somehow worse then when they did it on Professor X…but as usual with these things, ones eyes quickly get used to it.

Maybe it was evil Riker from the mirror universe. I mean, he does have a goatee.

I’m telling you, the Kurtzmanification of Star Trek has not done us any favours.

Modern TV and movies are made with digital cameras, sensitive to minimal light, and viewed live (and in post) on high end, perfectly calibrated, HDR monitors in dark rooms, so it looks AMAZING to them.

Production teams have decided to no longer cater to lowest common denominator home viewing. They seem to actively resent the idea of even attempting it anymore. So, until they wake up, we’re all doomed to squint forever more.

Even scenes like the Picard-Bev scene (Which I thought was some of the best acting Stewart has done in forever) appear to be done with a hand-held camera by a guy who has been on his feet all day.

Nah, he died with the other Maquis. I mean, they never stated it directly, but they said that the Cardassians and Dominion wiped out the entire organization to a man (except for the ones on Voyager, of course).

…sorry.

Thomas Riker would likely have been in a Cardassian prison camp, so he may have survived.

The Orville has decent illumination, much like TNG, proving once again that The Orville is the best new Trek out there.

> The Titan took them by surprise. To protect themselves, they threw up a portal. Maybe they just didn’t have time to redirect things somewhere else. Maybe it just _wasn’t_ part of the plan.

When they arc around to come in behind the Shrike, Picard says “She’s already turned.” Since the Shrike was unexpectedly facing the Titan, that might indicate that it was in fact part of the plan. Either that, or it’s just terrible exposition to cover for the fact that it looks like the portal weapon can only be fired facing forward.

But either way, the point is to get them deeper into the not-a-nebula, with its electrical and biological signatures that they made sure to point out twice. The Shrike begging off following the Titan into the gravity well suggests they already know what’s in there. Plus, we know the Shrike has a pretty powerful tractor beam that can throw a ship around, so if they really didn’t want the Titan going deeper into the not-a-nebula (you know, the one with electrical and biological signatures) they could have tractor beamed it out but they didn’t.

Maybe I missed it in this thread. How exactly, with her sole Starfleet experience being a payload specialist on the USS Voyager, is Annika a commander and XO of the Titan?

In the last episode of season 2, Picard gave her a field commission to command the Stargazer. So that’s a thing, I guess.

Do you think the fact that they’ve mentioned Picard’s postironic body replacement twice so far, after ignoring it for an entire seasons, means that it will be important when trying to determine whether he’s a changeling or not? I do.

</div>

I still think Picard is a copy. Even more specific, he’s not a Westworld copy…he’s a clone.

Season one seemed to imply Maddox gathered some atoms of Data’s positronic brain (!!) and ‘regrew’ it. So they used the same technology to put Picard into the golem. If you take a piece of him and regrow him is that not cloning?

Previously on _Star Trek: Picard_:

Riker: Hello! We’re famous heroes of Starfleet! Can we borrow your ship to do something highly suspect against orders using a patently false justification?

Shaw: That sounds neat, but I’ll pass. No.

Picard: What do you mean, “No”? But we’re famous!

Shaw: Don’t care.

Riker: Aw, c’mon. All the other captains let us do whatever we want.

Shaw: Still no.

Seven: By the way, Captain, did you see the latest episode of _Star Trek: Jellico_?

Shaw: There’s no such show.

Seven: Exactly.

Shaw: …

Shaw: Fuck it. Let’s get reckless.

Seriously though, apart from the Kurtzmanesque murk the thing pissing me off these days about Star Trek is in the increasingly messianic nature of the writing. DS9 was bad enough - I mean, Sisko was literally a religious icon but at least it didn’t magically make everything he did right no matter how patently stupid it was, unlike _Discovery_ and _Picard_. If Federation ships had shields as thick as the plot armor they use, they could plow through Borg cubes as if they were wet tissue paper.

At this point I’d rather watch a gritty spinoff of _Starfleet Intelligence_ featuring Raffi and maybe Seven wandering through the seamy underbellies of alien worlds. In fact, they could start it now and just leave the rest of them wandering around the sentient space fart they’re in, because I’ve stopped caring about most of them already.
