Although they did pay some lip service to explain it, it still bothers me that this episodes makes Vulcan logic seem like a genetic trait to Vulcans. It bothered me when they released the clip of this episode before the season began and it bothers me now. That said, Vulcans can indeed be jerks. In fact nearly every Vulcan we have ever met besides T’Pol, Tuvok and Spock (of course he is half though) has been mostly a jerk so it was funny seeing that play out in four different ways. ---

A fun one. Like others, I wish there were more episodes the leaned to more serious sci-fi, mainly because we have so few episodes per season, and so few seasons. When you had 26 episodes per season, throwing a few wacky ones in wasn’t a big deal. These days, they’re gonna end up being a significant portion of the episodes ever made. Did anyone notice the reference to Pittsburgh’s Primanti Bros restaurant, which puts the ‘french fries inside the sandwich”? ---

I agree – enough of these silly episodes. Enough Gorn horror shows. Let’s get back to sci-fi, cool concepts with ethical quandaries about civilizations way ahead or behind us, etc. ---

There’s been 10 episodes per season so far, and this 3rd season will be no different. If we assume next season will also be 10 episodes, and we know the 5th season will be a shortened season, then we’ll end up with less than 50 total episodes. I think we’re on course for around 20% of the episodes being ‘fun’ episodes, musicals, fairy tales, etc. ---

The new owner wants more Star Trek and a Kirk led Enterprise series is likely with all the TOS characters. Along with the Movies being revived in the Kelvin timeline. If they don’t kill most of the extra characters they have a spin-off potential as #1 goes off to Captain her own ship, they’ll probably leave the option open. Also the Doctor, M’benga, was in two episodes of TOS. So he’s probably got plot armor. i’m wondering if i should try for a pike’s peak for my next haircut. i don’t believe i have the correct type of hair. his vulcan look was quite something. la’an going romulan was logical. ---

So for the 5th season, we’re likely guaranteed that at least two of those episodes will be a reboot of “The Cage” for Pike’s exit. It wouldn’t surprise me if they milked it out for more of the episodes for that story arc.
