Finally got around to seeing SW E2:ATOC last Friday. As previously stated by others, the talky parts were stiff and boring, but the action parts were pretty good.

My question:

In the Yoda-throws-down-and-kicks-Jedi-ass scene where Dooku “forces” that giant cylindrical thing to land on Kenobi and Annakin, wouldn’t it have made more sense to wack Dooku rather than save the two stricken Jedi? (granted, if he DID, it would ruin the whole series)

That way leads to the Dark Side.

But wouldn’t Yoda’s feelings for his Jedi charges ALSO lead to the Dark Side?

Ok, we’re talking spoilers here, right? But one thing that I’ve been pondering, when I go to my happy place and think Star Wars thoughts, is that the Yoda we see in ESB is, of course, the Yoda who has lived through all the events of the fall of the republic. So maybe his annoying advice to Luke to give up on his friends in Cloud City for the greater good of the Force came out of him regretting some of his actions in AOTC (and Ep III, possibily).

…ah, crap. Just minutes before, we saw Anakin and Obi-Wan squabbling about whether or not to go back and rescue Padme, with Anakin grudgingly admitting “she would do her duty.” He would have been expelled from the Jedi if he’d saved her.

Ah, crap. So Obi should report Yoda to the Jedi ethics committee.

My understanding of the SW universe is imploding.

Remember - Anakin isn’t just another Jedi, he’s “the Chosen One.” Yoda wouldn’t want “the Chosen One” to die for the sake of getting Dooku - there’s always tomorrow for Dooku.

No no. He would’ve been expelled for not doing his duty to the Galaxy. Not just for rescuing a person.

Not to mention, his love for an individual is forbidden, except in Anakin’s carefully twisted logic.

I just love how after flipping around, jumping, and moving like a flea on speed during the battle, he has to use his cane to help him walk at his incredible one mile an hour pace again.

I never worked out why he didn’t just move Obi-Wan and Anakin out the way of the falling cylinder, it would seem to be much easier and would leave him time for him to carry on attacking Dooku.

Maybe Yoda took first aid through his local Red Cross and knew that it wasn’t a good idea to move injured people until he knew the full extent of their injuries.

I can imagine the conversation–

“Mace, both good news and bad news I have.”

“Gimme the bad news first.”

“I let a big cylinder fall on the Chosen One, so the Force can never be brought into balance. You still want the good news?”

Compassion is at the heart of the Jedi Code.

Though I don’t blame you if you weren’t listening when Anakin said that. I know I started to nod off whenever the boy opened his mouth.

Or maybe even chucking the column at Dookie instead of just holding it up, or pushing it off to the other side, or whatever lame ass thing he actually did.

Does anyone really not want Christopher Lee in the next movie? He was the best thing about AOTC, IMO. And I’m not just saying that b/c I’m Christopher Lee. 🙂

My biggest problem with that scene is that Yoda didn’t even _touch_ Dooku. You’d think the baddest Jedi master would at least nick him. I know he never uses the light saber, but c’mon…

I didn’t get the impression that Yoda is buying the chosen one nonesense.

And can somebody explain that IF Little Orphane Annie is the chosen one HOW does he bring ‘balance to the force’.

I mean does making Luke the only living Jedi really bring balance to it?

What? Was the force too good and he eviled it up some?
(extremly heavy sigh)

Zebra: That **must** be it. Remember that episode of the original _Star Trek_ series where Kirk got split into his good and evil halves? They made a big point that without his evil half, Kirk would be a useless simpering wimp for the rest of his life.

It must be the same way with the Force.

Lucky Dookku didn’t pour some water on Yoda, or feed him after midnight.
