It says right [here](http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/28/22113.html) that Jedi Knight is now offically a religion. I guess this finally puts to bed all of those Star Wars vs. Star Trek debates, huh? [sub]unless vulcan gets added to the list[/sub] ---

I read the article online that said that people in England chose “the force” as a religion. Could it really be any worse than what’s already out there… OK sign me up I’M a CONVERT. 😃 ---

Well the BBC originally called it a [Hoax](http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/new_media/newsid_1271000/1271380.stm) but now are [reporting](http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/newsid_1589000/1589133.stm) it as a story 😕 They also need to get a few new Star Wars pics 😉 ---

seriously, though, what would be necessary to make Jedi into an officially recognised religion? Couldn’t Jedi be classified as a sort of Wicca-type religion? Or doesn’t wicca et al count either? ---

Being a Star Wars fan does not make you a Jedi any more than being an Indiana Jones fan makes you an archaeologist. In fact, is “Jedi” even a religion at all, even within the Star Wars universe? ---

It’s got just as much philosophy, tradition, and sense behind it as many of these others, if not more. ---

Oh. 10,000 people or so HAVE put down their religion as Jedi Knight, but the British Census Bureau is putting it down as “other.” They say, just because people say they’re a Jedi doesn’t mean it’s a real religion. ---
