Thanks for the theories/answers to my questions. I saw the movie in a small Vermont town’s theater a few days before Christmas, and it was maybe three-quarters full. ---

Apparently originally they had a much bigger role for Luke and he met both Anakin’s force ghost and Vaders projection. That might happen in SWVIII. ---

Re: Captain Phasma. When the casting call sheet was leaked, people noticed there were not many female roles and as the internet is wont to do, there was OUTRAGE. To quell the outrage they gender switched some roles and Phasma was one of them. I don’t think the part was ever meant to be big but it was on everyone’s radar from the beginning. ---

The rumour was that Luke was going to see both Daddy in both his Anakin and vader guises depending on the point in the story. Could work well with Kylo Ren in EpVIII incidentally. They would need to bring back Hayden Christensen for that and I think they wanted nothing to do with the prequels in the _Force Awakens_. Now that they have this out of the way, they could. How about Vader appears to Kylo and Anakin to Luke? ---
