# Starting a band?  Then take on the responsibility already!

I answered a bassist wanted ad. A guitarist is trying to pull together a trio: bass, guitar, and percussion. The guitarist wants to get together to see if we gel musically, which is cool, but there is a problem:

**EasyPhil** : \* Yeah, sounds like a cool project, I’m interested.\*

**Guitarist** : \* Okay, yeah let’s get together these are the tunes I want to do. Are you available Sunday?\*

**EasyPhil** : _Sunday’s good, let me know when and where._

**Guitarist** : \* Well I’m free Sunday evening but, WHERE WOULD WE GET TOGETHER???\*  
**Note:** The phrase in all caps is exactly what was written in the email

**EasyPhil** : 😕

What the fuck is wrong with this person? Heeelloooo? In my mind if you’re trying to put a group together it’s on **you** not me, to make arrangements as to where to hold auditions.

I’d respond thusly:

Dude, I’m stoked! Let’s jam in the parking lot at Winn-Dixie, there aren’t any cars after it closes on Sunday night. I’ll bring my frisbee and a bag of weed. By the way, WHAT KIND OF BASS AND AMPLIFIER WILL I BE USING?
