It’s the same old story.

The kids today. In my day blahblahblahblahrespectblahblahblahobeyblahblahblahdirtyhippiesblahblahblastinkingbeatniksblahblahblahfuckingzootsuitsblahblahblahuphillbothwaysbarefootinthesnowblahblahblahblah

The song has remained the same for centuries? millenia? since the Cambrian age? Every crabby old fart with selective memory sings the same tired song. It was bullshit back then, and it is bullshit now. Today’s rotten kids are tomorrow’s grouchy old farts, singing the same tune.

And so it goes, forever.

> The study finds that church attendance correlates with volunteerism, and it doesn’t matter if you are Catholic and attend church, Protestant and attend church, or don’t formally belong to any denomination and attend church. At least as well as a study on the relationship between stressful life events and delinquent behavior.
>
> If you define delinquency as “un-civil”, then one would expect that its opposite can be defined as “civil” behavior. Well and good - attending church correlates with lower rates of criminal offense, even in nations outside the US ([cite](http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6V9F-3VVVNWV-F&_user=10&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=search&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_searchStrId=957396089&_rerunOrigin=scholar.google&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=de3bb5a62ff8d72267b07dc5b7aa2ad0)).

Still seems to me that the correlation is not as strong as implied, this later study shows that the jury is still out regarding the subject of religion=better behavior if we want be sincere about it:

> Despite the best efforts of “pro-life” Americans, abortion rates are much higher in our Christian nation, and lowest in relatively secular ones such as Japan, France, and the Scandinavian countries (Figures 3 and 4). In general, higher rates of belief in and worship of a creator correlate with higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection rates, teen pregnancy, and abortion in the prosperous democracies (Figures 5 and 6). This would seem to indicate that there is a positive correlation between religiosity and dysfunctionality, but what does that mean?
>
> The question is one of causation, and there is no clear answer. Whether religion leads directly to dysfunctionality, or religions merely flourish in dysfunctional societies, neither conclusion from this study flatters religion. The first tells us that religion is a hindrance to the development of moral character, and the second that religion hinders progress by distracting us from our troubles (with imaginary solutions to real problems). This study is complicated enough that I do not think that we can draw definitive negative conclusions about religion. But we can at least conclude, contrary to popular belief in this country, that it is not a given that religious societies are better, healthier, or more moral.

I don’t really have time to get back into all this yet today, but you haven’t read the thread, have you? Tthe problem isn’t the kids of today; it’s the trailer-park society of today which was triggered by the liberal baby-boom generation of 40 years ago. (And for what it’s worth I was twenty years old then then and just as disgusted and disbelieving of them then as I am now.) Anyone with half their brain tied behind their back (:D) could see where that shit would lead and sure enough it has (see post 168 for a partial list).

So spare me the centuries-old lamentations of the generation gap. Generation gaps with the exception of the one that occurred in the late sixties don’t screw up entire societies and create the types of problems that exist today.

Hey liar, how you doin’?

Care to admit it yet? A polite person would admit their lies.

Don’t be trailer trash. ☹

Isn’t there some sort of rule about continuously calling someone a liar without ever furnishing proof of it despite numerous challenges?

If not there ought to be.

And come to think of it, isn’t there some sort of rule prohibiting someone from making numerous false attributions as to what another poster has said, and then when having been proven wrong refusing to acknowledge and apologize for their error. (Yes, **elucidator** - and for that matter, **tomndebb** - I’m looking at you.)

If not there ought to be.

In the '50s lesbians were happier being nuns.

One would think then that out of all my posts to this board, **Lobohan** could come up with some way of trying to prove it besides alleging that my comments with regard to one of two omitted Hannity clips equates somehow to telling people that the other one doesn’t exist. **GIGObuster** then jumped on that silly bandwagon and began to claim the same.

But really, it’s all cool to me; it only proves they have nothing of merit with which to dispute the larger issues I raise. Still, allowing genuine lying such as they are engaging in, and allowing it to go unchallenged, is how such lies become accepted as the truth.

Thus I would think that a mod at some point would tell the miscreant to put up or shut up, lest the board become filled with “Did too”, “Did not” posts.

> [@jayjay](#):
>
> And you’re hardly the person who should be talking about unresponded challenges.

The difference is that challenges I choose not to respond to are not in regard to lies I’ve told about other posters. It’s one thing if I decide not to respond to some challenge that I either feel I don’t have time for, is likely flawed, or is merely obfuscatory, and quite another to quail from proving an assertion that I made about another poster.

Interesting. You lied about me before I ever said anything that could be construed as false or even directed an insult at you. I then made an observation, once, that you challenged with foaming mouth and waving arms, failing to actually prove your point, and have then gone on to repeat your [del]lies[/del] charges in multiple threads on numerous occasions. The closest I have come to that behavior was to make a single joke about the fact that you promised on three occasions to provide evidence of my errors and failed to provide any of the evidence on all three occasions.

Be careful what you seek, lest you find it and your rule be employed to hurl you from this august body.

It seems to me though that environment that consists of financially strapped people who indulge in drugs and drinking and crime and violence to such a degree that they’ve become stereotyped for it, would not skew conservative.
