State of Alabama offices closed for Confederate Memorial Day

Holy cow. FINEBAUM is winning a journalism award?

I take back everything I said in this thread. Alabama is now indefensible. We deserve all the scorn heaped upon us.

Wait a minute, though, hang on … it’s the goofballs in New York who are giving him the award, so that’s makes them stupider than us. Okay, I can feel superior again.

These Southern-Baiting threads usually make me choke on my own anger; they render me incoherent especially when they are as filled with errors as this thread has been. I am grateful, humble, and proud that we are blessed with posters like Sampiro, Zoe and others who are knowledgeable, well spoken, and who can keep their tempers and wits about them when confronted not only with ignorance but with willful ignorance; in my view, the very worst kind. Well played, guys.

I feel jealous reading Sampiro’s posts. Man, I wish I could write like that.

For the low, low price of only $49.95 (or three easy monthly payments of $18.95), YOU CAN!

Through this special message-board-only offer, now YOU can channel the sublime writing talent of Sampiro! Act now, and you’ll receive:

[ul]The easy-to-follow, step-by-step booklet “Guide to Hilarious Stream-of-Consciousness Writing Tips”[/ul]
[ul]A signed copy of all of Sampiro’s threads as inspiration[/ul]
[ul]A Swedish massage by Ogre[/ul]
[ul]And last – but not least! – an 18-ounce bottle of Shampiroo, the magical shampoo that not only leaves your hair shiny, bouncy and full of body, but also seeps through your scalp to infuse your quivering brain with some of Sampiro’s writing talent![/ul]

Act now! Supplies are limited! Plus Ogre doesn’t know yet that we’ve volunteered him for the whole Swedish massage thing.

Everybody knows the best American writers have been from the South.

He had been ordered to by the Secretary of War in retalliation for the Scott massacre.

He was subordinate and insubordinate, whichever happened to suit his purpose of murdering people at the time.

Of the many things mentioned and said in this thread, these three stick out with me:

1)Sampiro coming up with a name for these things: "‘I’m an abolitionist and I don’t care who knows it’ threads."

  1. LouisB’s brilliant use of the term “willful ignorance”.

3)Zoe pointing out the amazing fact that a bunch of yankees gave Paul Finebum a journalism award. WHAT?

Peace, y’all. Or not.
