China’s leadership is wondering if their military is actually as good as it’s supposed to be, or if they’ll be caught short like Russia was when Ukraine decided to fight instead of surrender. That’s the thing people don’t get about dictatorships and other authoritarian governments: They breed corruption, waste, and incompetence, not just through criminals rising in the organization (which they do) but also through people falsely reporting things are going well because they’ll be punished if anyone finds out they’re going badly. ---

That’s good. It’s fitting that the party that destroyed abortion rights, caused Alabama clinics to cease IVF treatments has delivered a response from a woman in a kitchen. ---
