So are Bookworm Adventures 1 and 2. They got $7 from me for BA2.
New sales are up.
City of Heroes: Architect Edition for $10. This is an mmo, however, so there would be a monthly fee of presumably $15. I’ve heard good things about the architect edition, however. They pretty much released a mission builder for the game, and players can create their own missions for the game using the tool, release them, and they get rated and played. Supposedly its been cranking out good quality content like mad(of course, with lots and lots of bad content that arises from fan submissions).
Supreme Commander 2 for $7.47. 2 is rather more different than one, but I’m definitely getting it at that price.
Zeno Clash for $3.75. Never heard of it, but it looks interesting. Art style rather reminds me of Borderlands.
AudioSurf for $2.50. Nifty little game if you are bored and like listening to music.
Every Hearts of Iron game/expansion/DLC for 66% off. Looks to be a ww2 strategy game. Never played.
Star Wars The Force Unleashed for $7.50. Got this a couple months back, pretty good SP campaign, with lots of interesting locales, and the force powers/physics are lots of fun to play with. Definitely worth it.
Company of Heroes complete pack for $25. Decent RTS games, but not really my cup of tea. If you are thinking of this, I would highly recommend just getting the THQ complete pack for $50, which has the COH series, plus a LOT more, like Red Faction 2, STALKER, Saints Row 2, Titan Quest, the complete Warhammer Dawn of War series, Metro 2033, and a few others.
The original Half Life for $6.69. Good game, but dated by now.
Ok, they took half life down and put Left 4 Dead 2 in its place for $10.20. Definitely worth it if you haven’t got it already.
Note: the only thing special about the “Architect edition” is that you get to choose one of two costume packs as a free extra, instead of paying a few bucks for it separately. Anyone who is a paying subscriber can use the Mission Architect.
It’s a fun game though. And while the description says you get “14 free content updates”, in reality you’d get the other 3 Issues patched in automatically as well just by logging on (they ARE free, after all).
Audiosurf is an absolute must-have at $2.50
Company of Heroes Complete is certainly worth the $25, but if you’re interested it’s a much better deal to get the entire THQ pack for $50 which includes that plus like 20 other games.
Hearts of Iron (series) is good, a very hardcore sim focusing on country management during WW2.
L4D2 is absolutely worth $10. We have a very active SDMB community for L4D2 with 20+ active people so we fill up full versus games and some campaigns several times a week.
Updating this, someone on another forum said:
“Someone pointed out that all of the original DoW games are listed in the THQ pack except DoW Gold. I just wanted to chip in to say that I got the pack, and DoW Gold is included, even if it isn’t mentioned in the description.”
Son of a bitch! I said to myself that if they put L4D2 in a good sale, I’d pick it up.
I hate Steam so much! That ten dollars was going to be my food money for today! Now my cats will starve and my Dr Pepper supply is going to run low!
Steam and they’re damn good deals make me so not-jokingly angry! Grrrr!
Right Beef?
Confirmed
Two quick questions - I can’t get access to steam from work, so I must rely on y’all.
-
Are Mac games part of this blowout?
-
do you need ongoing internet access, or can you load it on your laptop and play it elsewhere? I ask because Portal seems to spend it’s free time loading up stuff, and likes open as website when it wakes up.
There was an Indie Games Pack awhile back that had Machinarium, World of Goo, and a few other things. I was waiting for a sale like this, but now it looks like they took it away, unless my search skills are broken. None of the items on the constant sale really excites me, but I’ll keep an eye on the dailies.
ETA: From the few I’ve seen, you pay one price and get PC + Mac games together. I don’t know how many are part of the sale.
Yeah. Everything that has a steamplay icon or is under the mac page is something you can play on mac, and a significant part of that is discounted.
Steam has an offline mode where it has to phone home once every 90? days but otherwise can play without a connection.
Does this mean you’ll be playing Left 4 Dead 2 with us now?
I’ll mail you a sandwich and can of cat food if you want.
Yes it does mean that.
The download is going glacially slow right now though. I started it five hours ago, almost on the dot and only have 48% downloaded. One hour the download was paused while I played TF2, but the rest of the time it’s been downloading far slower than my internet is capable of.
EDIT: And yes please do mail me a sandwich and some cat food. Somebody has to take over the reigns of worst SD L4D2 player right?
I picked up Killing Floor and L4D2. How do I game with you guys?
I’m hoping Bioshock (original) goes on sale. I DL’ed and played the demo, and it’s full of Art Deco awesome!
Join the SDMB steam community and in particular add me as a friend since I get stuff started most of the time.
Add me (steam ID is tr0psn4j) to your friends list and send me a message. I’ll invite you the next time we play.
I was not planning on buying any games this month.
I’ve so far picked up:
L4D2
City of Heroes
Audio Surf
M.U.D. Tv (which does not work)
that Vegas game
Plants v Zombies.
Woops, wrong link.
Fixed: SDMB Steam Community
We have a very active l4d2 community, and we play other games a decent bit. TF2, sometimes borderlands, sometimes CSS (since they revamped it I thought maybe we could get some games going). More recently since like 7+ of us got the introversion pack for $5, I was hoping we could get some SDMB defcon games going again.
New daily sales:
Dawn of War 2 + Expansion $20
Eve Online: Tyrannis $2
Gothic Bundle (Gothic 2 gold, Gothic 3) $2
Half-life (original) $2
Flotilla $2.50
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men $5
All Civilization games 75% off, including expansions
Max Payne $2.50
So Eve Online: Tyrannis is not an expansion pack but the full game, right? You get 30 days of subscription time bundled with it, so you can try the game out for a month for $2. I think I’ll hop on that and give it a go. If it’s not an expansion pack, what’s the Tyrannis part?
The Civilization IV Complete Pack is ten dollars today. That includes Warlords, Beyond the Sword, and the Colonization remake. It includes both PC and Mac versions, too. You can get each component individually too, but if you lack two of them you may as well get the whole pack.
