The summer sale’s dailies aren’t impressing me as much as the Christmas sale’s did.
So far I’ve picked up:
Just Cause
Oblivion GOTY
Borderlands
GTA Classics
Darksiders
Magicka
Bioshock 2
I think the most expensive thing I’ve picked up was $8.50… Barring surprises, I think the most expensive thing I get this sale will be Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines, oddly enough.
I picked up KOTOR and Heroes of Might and Magic V yesterday, but really wish I would have seen this for the Oblivion special on day one. I have it on 360 but I’d like to play it on PC for the mods. Darn!
I’ll be getting Bioshock 2 and th Half Life episode today too. And I’ll probably never play any of them!
So I got Football manager, been wondering about it for a while. I’m not really a huge soccer fan, But I do like the strategy of sports management type games. I loved OOTP till I burned out. And for 1- bucks it’s less that the couple beers I would drink watching a game anyway.
COD: Modern Warfare 2 $20 and dlc (50%)
Two Worlds $17 (66%)
Sniper Ghost Warrior $5 (75%)
Assassin’s Creed Franchise: Brotherhood $20, AC 2 deluxe $7, AC director’s edition $7 or all for $27
Transformers: War for Cybertron $7.50 (75%)
Men of War Assault Squad $8.50 (75%)
Kane and Lynch franchise 75%, Both K&L games $5, various dlc
Tropico 3 $4, expansion $2.50 (75%)
Torchlight $3 (80%)
Defense Grid: The Awakening $2.50, dlc (75%)
Arma Franchise - Arma 2 Combined ops $22.50, various DLC (50%)
Dragon Age Franchise DA:O Ultimate $10, DA2 $36
Activities today for Defense Grid, Men of War: Assault Squad, Flight Control HD, The Polynomial, ARES: Extinction Agenda, Iron Grip: Warlord, and a freebie for writing a recommendation on steam.
Getting DA:O Ultimate for $10 is a steal. It has the game, expansion, and all DLCs, and it’s great. It’s also far better than the sequel.
Arma 2 may or may not be the game for you, but if it is, get the combined arms pack for only $2.50 more than getting either arma 2 or operation arrowhead seperately.
Torchlight for $3 is a steal. It’s a diablo type game that’s pretty good.
I like Defense Grid quite a bit and would recommend it if you like tower defense.
Tropico 3 is supposed to be a pretty decent city/empire building game.
Kane and Lynch 2 is alright if you play with a friend, but nothing great.
Oh, I’m an idiot. I just keep buying and buying. I normally go by what you guys say and from outofeight.info. So I picked up ArmA II: Combined Ops today and Defense Grid. And I bought Hoard yesterday. Who knows when I’ll play the two I bought today. Ugh…can’t pass up seemingly good deals on games. Damn you Steam!
I’ll second the recommendation for Tropico 3. Make sure you also get the patch that re-enables the radio announcer. That’s half the funny right there.
I picked up SpaceChem the other day. The most brain-busting puzzler I’ve ever played. I don’t know if I’ll have any brain power left over for Defense Grid.
Another vote for Tropico 3 and its expansion. I picked it up in the Christmas sale I think, and I found it really entertaining and addictive. The humour and atmosphere are great, and there are quite a lot of possibilities for variations in gameplay.
Defense Grid: Awakening is fun too, and I love both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II.
Jeez, I was hoping to not spend any more money on Steam for a while - still have unplayed games from the last summer and Christmas sales - and I’ve already picked up over a half dozen…
the DA:O Ultimate edition is not available in my region
how does gifting work? would i still get the game and all dlc etc? kinda odd if they allow gifting to sidestep the issue and yet have region locks anyway. anyone willing to help?
I’ve had a lot of fun playing Tropico 3. Spend the extra $1.25 and get the gold edition; wind turbines are a godsend. I will go on record, though, as saying that I found building times to be frustrating; there’s a cheat code for instant building, and I consider it more of a “game flaw fixing code”.
I think that Assassin’s Creed 1 is worth seven bucks. AC2 is tempting, but I’ll stick to my anti-DRM boycott for the time being (it hasn’t been difficult, seeing how I have this giant pile of other games to play).
I already have Dragon Age (and Awakenings), but barely played it. Anyone know if it’s worth shelling out ten bucks for the Ultimate Edition to get the nine content packs?
I haven’t actually tested it, but I think someone can gift you the entirety of the contents. I think the region issue a contractual issue with where you buy it, not necesarily with who it goes to.
I haven’t done any real gaming in years as I’ve owned some older computers and been doing the MMORPG thing. So now I’ve been picking up some games here and there. I’ve gotten:
Braid
Bioshock 1 & 2
Dragon Age: Ultimate
Torchlight
That alone should keep me going for some time since I bought the Orange Box on Father’s Day and haven’t touched HL2 and all the extras yet. Hoping to see Portal 2 go on a Daily Special but we’ll see what happens.
Yeah, I’ll do it for you. Add me on steam. You can regift me in the future worth an equivelant value of games on steam. I’ll be away from the computer at various times in the next 10 hours so I’m not sure we’ll hook up, but add me (same name) when you’re around.
