# Steam trojan?

Had to reinstall Steam recently. Downloaded it from [www.steampowered.com](http://www.steampowered.com) and installed. It updates, updates the steam platform, then gets flagged by AVG and MSE as a trojan.  
It is the steam.exe file that’s getting flagged.

Anyone else have this experience? I redownloaded the install file a couple times and its still doing it.

False positive. As long as you make sure it’s the real website, and not like “[steam.powered.com](http://steam.powered.com)” or “steampowered.c.om”

Not surprised AVG caught it, they are weighted in the “catch it just in case” direction. More surprised about MSE. But wait a minute… are you using two AV programs at once? You shouldn’t do that.

Sorry, but I just have to say, whenever I see this thread title I picture a giant steel horse on rails with Confederate soldiers hiding inside it.

Hah; I was picturing some kind of giant steampunk horse as well, or possibly a steampunk robot that looked like a Trojan war soldier.

should have also mentioned that it diverts to [store.steampowered.com](http://store.steampowered.com)  
which i think is legit but wanted to make sure
