Stereotypical Gender Occupations

Several, as well as men who had trained as AAs but worked in other fields. One of the lab techs I worked with was an AA by training; that made him the logical and evident choice for “person in charge of purchasing, booking trips and other admin stuff that makes the lab manager’s head hurt”.

I read many years ago that the most gender-dominant occupation in the U.S. was a cattle auctioneer, over 99.9% male. I might be misremembering and auctioneers were/are always white, not male.

FWIW.

My former employee who originally started as a front desk /customer service was laid off from his job when the facility closed. He chose to return to school and was preparing to be a radiology tech, but at the last minute he found out he wasn’t funded for that and went into dental assisting. He was able to get a good job after school, ironically because he became a part time clerk before graduating. So yes, he went from “secretary” to “dental assistant.”

Redundant.

Because . . . ?
