I started working as a SST the other week and was just wondering if there are any other dopers who are currently working as or have previously worked as one. ---

I am not one (my step-brother has been for ages though). I never knew really what it was that he did until September. At the start of my first clinical for school we had a very thorough tour of the sterile processing department. It was fascinating! I’d love to be in there while they’re actually working but just having the procedures explained to me was really interesting. ---

It can be quite interesting, but since I haven’t had my injection yet I’m stuck wrapping the trays instead of actually learning the sterilizing process. ---

It’s an injection for either hepatitis a or b. The instruments come in with all sorts of blood and gunk, which could contain harmful diseases.
