Yes, Goo, I believed it when they said Zemanek would replace Denton, coz I believe radio executives are the dumbest people NOT on TV. AND I said to myself “it will never work.” And I promised myself to listen to 2MBS, borrow talking books, ANYTHING not to listen to 2MMM next year.
And I was late into work today as I listened to Denton farewell everyone - 9:25 am or so…
If Only we could have Adam Spencer and his JJJ sidekick on 2MMM with Amanda Keller, we would have the perfect comedy radio team …
and I second Kim Kilbey. She must have been a Double Bay/Toorak matron in another life - the way she is so “disconnected” with what is going on around her.
I don’t know… Kim Kilby is an improvement on Jo Beth Taylor, or that woman off the cartoon show… Karen someone. Really, the mid-afternoon cartoon hosts on Channel 9 must all be raised by game show hosts, and regularly beaten around the head if they ever showed sparks of intelligence.
Of course, there are the kids from Cheez TV… how could I have forgotten them? Just a couple of days ago, I watched one of them doing a spiel on the Harry Potter movie. Not only did he pronounce “Hermione” wrong (“Her-me-own” instead of “Her-my-oh-nee”), but he did it just a few seconds before her name was spoken in the clip they were showing - so the obvious conclusion is that not only did he not watch the movie before reviewing it, but he didn’t even watch the movie trailer before showing it!
Hands down, Andrew Denton is the best host on Australian radio OR TV. I was addicted to his late night show Denton (all those years ago), some of the funniest Australian TV I’ve ever seen. He’s intelligent, witty and a good sport. Andrew Denton is Australia’s entertainment king.
Kim Kilbey is the only reason to watch Australian TV. Her thoughtful environmental commentary and the delightful patter on her show are joys to behold. For me, human cloning is a worthwhile objective as long as Kim is alive.
On the o ther hand, Mike Munro, Zemanek, Ray Martin and Sam Newman are the four people I desperately want to contract smallpox. And then I want them to go away.d

Just putting up another acclamation for Monroe, hell basically anyone on ch9. Shouldn’t Ray, monroe, Steve Leibmann (never knew his name before this thread), The news guys (sorry- forgotten fortunately) and so on be put in a nursing home? They have had the same news guy since the channel started. What about new blood? And for gods sake it had better not be Richard wilkins (the man who said the Michael Hutchence ‘would stick his neck out’ in the ch9 tribute)
And I think that America will never forgive us for 60 mins.
And I’d just like to say that the afternoon cartoon shows are great - pretty young things with two talents bouncing around. It makes the time pass faster. I’d put my vote in for Anne Fulwood (ch7) - she seems to get more and more excited the worse the news is, and the hair!
