# Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King - new DVD

Just an FYI:

SRV was a protege of Albert King’s - they played together a lot when Albert started letting Stevie on stage. A famous session occurred up in Toronto when Albert was on tour and Stevie was just finishing up (or had just finished) his breakthrough first CD, Texas Flood.

The recording has been available in CD form, but a new release also includes a [DVD](http://www.amazon.com/Session-Deluxe-CD-DVD/dp/B00377V6J2).

[Here’s a clip](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7qeAiIAvB4&feature=related) of them playing Albert’s song Don’t Lie to Me. Albert takes the first solo starting maybe 10 - 15 seconds in. If you don’t know Albert King well and you just listen, you could totally buy it as Stevie Ray playing with those piercing up-bends. Well, now you know who Stevie learned from 😉

Fascinating; thanks. That clip is much better, but it features SRV on lead for the whole first part. A good thing - he plays great and is really trying to sound like Albert King, which is fun given that the Master is right next to him, smiling…

Huh, I thought I’d gotten the same clip. It’s apparently a different performance of the same song, at the very same session. Huh.

It is cool to see Stevie and Albert very much enjoying each other’s company (and accompaniment) and letting us watch, too. Very cool.
