Hello everyone, I am interested in learning how to drive a stick shift car. Is anyone here in the Lake County area of Illinois that would be up to teach me? Must have a stick shift car that we use. ---

There must be a buddy movie with cheesy metaphors in this. _Shifting Up_, the hilarious and sometimes poignant tale of how a grouchy Californian taught a naive Illinois teenager to drive stick, and along the way learned that the changes we need to make in our lives don’t always come smoothly. ---

I once taught a younger relative to drive a stick. She almost ran us into a ditch, explaining: But I can’t shift and steer at the same time. To which I replied: If you have to choose only one of those things, _ **STEER!!!** _ ---

I hope this isn’t too far off topic, but I would like to learn how to play the trombone. Who can teach me? You must provide the trombone, the slide grease, and the polishing cloth. You must come Thursday evenings between 7:00 and 9:00. And bring snacks. Who can teach me? mmm ---

My rule for teaching anyone to drive stick in my car is that they must be either married to me, or I must have known them since they were babies.
