Stoopid Uterus (But not for long!) (Maybe TMI)

 Yes, I have always been a terrible patient. (Once, I snuck out of the hospital to go to a movie with a doctor, I was dating, when I was supposed to be on bedrest.)

I always make sure to have goodies for the staff, but I don’t keep them in my room. I make sure each shift has their own box. I don’t think it ensures better service. I do it because it makes me feel good.

Once, when I was in the hospital for ten days on IV antibiotics, I had the sweetest nurse! About a week through the course of treatment, they didn’t have me on IV fluids, just had a hep lock in the back of my hand for my treatments, and I was going stir crazy! I asked this wonderful nurse if I could go out to lunch with my hubby and then come right back (I was also sick and tired of hospital food!) He said “Well, I’m not really allowed to let you leave the hospital. But if you go for a walk down the hall with your husband, and you happen to leave the hospital, and you’re back in time for your next treatment at 2:30, there’s no way I would know you left the hospital, is there?” and he winked at me! So I made my husband take me to Roy Roger’s for lunch!

I was so happy to get rid of my uterus…

I know for sure I don’t have any mixed feelings about waving goodbye to mine!

And, more good news, I was at the hospital today for my sixth and final iron infusion, and while I was there, I decided to check on the availability of a private room. I was told they are available, but they cost extra, and my insurance won’t pay for it, I’d have to pay the extra cost up front. My nurse went to check and see how much extra it was. I was thinking “Well, if it’s $40.00 or $50.00 a night, it might be worth it, especially since hubby is spending the night with me in the hospital the first night”. The nurse came back, and told me it’s an extra $7.00 a night!! Yup, for my projected two night stay, it’ll run me $14.00 clams!! Og, if I’d known it was that cheap, I would never have shared a hospital room with someone!

I have had times when I’ve lain in the recovery room for four or five hours waiting for a room to open up for me. It’s worth an extra $14.00 just to not have to do that!
