Anyone else suspect that this may have been of a last straw kind of thing, and that there was probably more going on behind the scenes? I honestly would not be surprised if they had been having issues with her and were just looking for an excuse to cancel the show. He’s just trying to derail this thread for no apparent reason. Something really went wrong with a lot of white baby boomers and silent generation types in the last 20-30 years. I assume it was a mix of talk radio and fox news, combined with a growing fear of America becoming a browner, gayer, more secular nation (combined with the rise of China and Islamic extremism). But yeah, in the 90s Roseanne was still a bitch and a hypocrite but at least she wasn’t a racist Fox News conspiracy nut. I really think a lot of white people born before the 60s can’t handle multiculturalism. It literally drove them nuts. ---

OK. One of my Canadian relatives posted (shared) this. How true is it? "Roseanne: I believe that each employer has the right to fire anyone they wish at anytime for behaviors they find unacceptable. ABC has this right as well as the NFL! My only issue with this action by ABC to cancel the Roseanne show is there utter Hypocracy! Weeks ago, Joy Baehar…of the View mocked Christians who believe that God speaks to them should be evaluated for Mental Illness! Muslims, Christians, Hindus,Jews and others believe in a personal relationship with the Creator…and Yes, we believe the almighty speaks to us in his own way. Joy wasn’t fired for offending millions of believers. Moreover, this network supports and retains bigots of all kinds…because the people they attack and mock …are Conservatives, Christians…all is acceptable as long as the targets are not Liberal. While I would not have used the same exact words to describe Valerie Jarret, Obama’s close advisor, I personally have great anger towards this woman. She and the enablers around her / Obama…was directly involved in the direct rape, torture, enslavement and murder of thousands of innocent Arab, Kurd, Yazi, Persian and Shi’a …across 8 nation’s across the Mideast. The Nobel peace prize winner Obama …brought death, chaos and human suffering and the greatest refugee crisis since WW2! The poor souls of the Mideast have more choice words that describe what they think of Obama and those around him who allowed his war-crimes. Ask the orphans, ask the widows, ask the families of the 5 thousand killed by Obama’s Drones…ask them what words they would use to describe Jarret, Hillary, Kerry and the rest. I assure everyone…Roseanne’s comments are tame in comparison. With this said.fire anyone you wish ABC…just be fair in your judgement and punishment! As for your relative’s whataboutery outrage regarding Obama’s foreign policy in the Middle East, ask her how she felt about the 2003 Iraq invasion that got the whole current destabilization process going. With foreign policy as with the domestic economy, a lot of conservatives are gleefully vilifying Obama largely for having gotten landed with the aftermath of the appalling decisions of the Bush administration. ---
