# stop signs in france

FWIW, stop signs in Japan are red “upside-down” triangles.

The stop sign in “stop11.jpg” from the link megs posted is Korean.

The octagonal sign used to be yellow, at least in many states. I remember when Maine switched, ca. 1960.

I always thought that Quebecois STOP/ARRET or ARRET only signs were interesting, given that

1. they are not used in France
2. “stop” is a French word (check your Larousse or Petit Robert).
