In light of Bush’s new (cue-lar) war, assholes throwing things at joggers, and “parents” baking infants, I know this is a petty thing. Almost worth ignoring.

Move on, nothing to see here.

But damn it, there is a grammer “foe pah” that is really starting to bug me, irregardless of weather it makes any sence.

And that is using “and” for “an.”

Half and hour.

This is such and arbitrary decision.

Annd Coulter is such and ass.

Wutthefuk? Since when did this become acceptable? Over maybe the past year I’ve seen this idiocy grow to epidemic proportions. Not just on this board, but on others as well. And I’ve even seen it in newsprint and in catalogues.

**AN** , assnuggets, **AN**!

As a mnemonic device, remember that “AN” can also stand for “Ass Nugget”.

Hmm… That’s funny. That particular mistake hasn’t stuck out at me, especially not here. Maybe I just ignore it.

The one I notice here a lot, though, is **loose** when the poster really means **lose**.

For said posters:

To “loose” something (when one uses it as a verb, which you invariably, and mistakenly, do) means to set something free, to untie something. It rhymes with “juice.” “Lose” is how you spell it when you mean something has gone missing.

I’m not even going to bother with the whole “its/it’s” debacle.

There is only so much tongue-biting one should be expected to endure. Ouch!

Pet peeve of mine is when someone will use ‘has’ when they really mean ‘as’.

I know a guy who writes e-mail, papers, everything, saying things such as:

Has high has a kite.

No, no, sorry fellas. The worst offender on earth is the dreaded appostrohe. It’s its, not it’s, damnit! You have lizzard’s for sale? Lizzard’s what? Lizzard’s gizzards? Pluralization does not require an aposrtophe in almost **any** circumstance! It’s really not that hard!

The hat belongs to Sue: Sue’s hat
More than one hat beolngs to Sue: Sue’s hats
The tag in the hat which belongs to Sue: Sue’s hat’s tag

Seeeeee? How hard is it?!

That’s because you called people “fucking idiots.” They didn’t take kindly to that. I, on the other hand, merely called them “assnuggets.”

And, moving on, we come to as/like (on which I gave up years ago).

Kids! What is wrong with the following ad copy:

Insignificant as they may be, the errors that get me are:

to, two, and too.

their, there, and they’re.

There is a difference. Just because they sound alike does not mean they are interchangable.

(This is not meant for anyone here - mostly for my friends and co-workers who apparently never made it past 3rd grade and who get all pissy when I correct them).
Oh, yes. Excuse me one moment since I cannot stand up and yell this in the office … THERE IS NO SUCH WORD AS IRREGARDLESS - I **DO NOT CARE** THAT IT IS NOW IN THE DICTIONARY - DID YOU READ THE DEFINITION “INCORRECT OR HUMOROUS USAGE”? - YOU ARE WRONG AND IF YOU SAY IT ONE MORE TIME TODAY I AM WALKING ACROSS THE HALL AND CHOKING YOU TILL YOU ARE BLUE!

Thank you. 🙂
