IIRC there was a time when using a decent (not necessarily top end, either) photocopier _would_ give one an image that would fool the dollar bill scanners on change machines. ---

I once had a counterfeit five passed on my shift. Either it was part of a stack or we were really slammed when it was passed, because it was such an obvious counterfeit that I couldn’t believe we had taken it when the boss found it next morning in the drops. Then there was another time a guy tried to pass a counterfeit fifty on me. I don’t remember if it was as obvious as a black-and-white photocopy, but it was pretty freaking obvious. I swiped it with the currency pen just for fun so that I could have one more thing to point out to the passer when I started harranguing him for real money. “That’s what they gave me at the bank” my ass. ---

When I was a teen I worked at a Taco Bell. One of our cashiers took a bill this way. After that, we had to “bill check” so at least one other person looked at the bill to ensure it was indeed a twenty as the cashier held it in the air. No police as yet btw. Anybody else want to chime in on the “goo storm”? I swear one mistake, …okay three mistakes…[sub]grumble…grumble…[/sub] ---

Some kid (a high school sofmore[sp?]) got a new, high-tech printer for Christmas. So, he got a (he thought) great idea. Neext thing you known, he and his friends are printing off sheets of hundred dolar bills. :dubious: And then (here’s the realy genious part) they go and spend them _in the school cafeteria_. So, now there are a bunch of high school kids who are now facing charges of counterfeiting (Federal) and forgery (State). Way to ruin you’re lives, boys. ---
