“Invent” “Impossible” and “YASID” (which is the standard abbreviation for “Yet Another Story ID”)

I remember this from my high school sophomore English textbook (1964). I recall that it was more humorous than nasty. The punch-line, IIRC, was that the character realized that he was no longer chewing the gum, it was chewing him!
