I’m a cynical pessimist IRL and once used my username as a joke in an email. Much like one people occasionally shout out “band name!”, **MadPansy64** responded immediately with “username!”.
I signed up about a month later and couldn’t figure out my login for **Wyzardd** , so took what I have now.

My husband invented this name for an NPC (non-player character) in a D&D game, and I thought it was hilarious. It stuck with me, so I used it here.
Millit’s backstory: In the world in which we were playing, some strange, fringe townfolk worshipped a god called the “All-Eater.” (My question: “Um, what does the All-Eater do?” Duh…) So a backstory was created for the All-Eater, in which he had been given the king’s homely daughter in exchange for…well, not eating everything. My husband draws cute little cartoons for some of his campaigns, so I asked him for a picture of the All-Eater. When he finally drew the All-Eater, he was a giant monster holding hands with a tiny, pathetic-looking, emotionally ambivalent girl who appeared on the verge of fainting. The caption was “The All-Eater and Millit the Frail.” I loved the cartoon, and I probably still have it somewhere.

That sketch itself isn’t the greatest, but I like that they rerpise the character at the end of a later [sketch](http://www.kithfan.org/work/transcripts/two/notnow.html) with the crazy guy in the restaurant, trying to get his check.

I’ve used this name since forever (when I first began going online–it used to be part of my email address), and when I joing SDMB, it just kept it because it was easy for me to remember.
As far as how it came to be…well, my middle name begins with P. (and I used to go by that name), my last name is Hall and my birthday is January 6.
How’s that for originality?

About 11 years ago, I was introducted to hockey when a CHL team started up in my town. I was an instant addict, and have stayed a rabid fan and season ticket holder while the team went from the CHL to the ECHL to the SPHL. Fortunately, the team has managed to keep the same name through the league changes - the Columbus Cottonmouths, nicknamed the “Snakes” with our barn being the “Snake Pit”.
I love cats and am currently owned by nine of them. When I first joined the boards I signed up as “Snakescatlady”, but a few posters seemed to think I had a fetish for snake poop. So I asked and was granted permission to capitalize a few letters to clear up the matter.

I created it accidentally on a board at [shakespeare.com](http://shakespeare.com) (long since gone). You could choose your name to reply. When replying to a particularly stupid issue about Shakespeare’s authorship (some nonsense about someone else writing his work), I was going to sign it “Reality Check,” but I typoed my nickname. I’ve liked it and stuck with RealityChuck as my nom de net (even despite certain ironies).

My username reflects my long-standing interest in solar-powered / solar-heated houses. And also laying on a carpeted floor in the sunshine like a cat while I spread out my books and papers to design. 🙂
I almost changed it to **Komiksulo** (“comics guy” in Esperanto) at one point to reflect my interest in Esperanto and in drawing comics, but in the past year the solar houses have come back into my life in a big way. I use Komiksulo in other locations, though.

I read that the wrong way at first, and had a mental picture of a line-art rendition of Mr. Sulu from _Star Trek_. Glad I took a second look!
As for me, I’ve been “Spoons” online since I first logged onto a BBS many years ago, though I was known by the nickname before. It comes from my ability to play musical spoons.

Mine came from the name of a [band](http://www.soundclick.com/onecentstamp) I was in a few years ago. The band has gone the way of the dodo and the small-government conservative, but I always thought the name was catchy.
The _band_ name had its origins in me starting a new project after disbanding what had been a very popular and successful (locally, at least) band. I chose “One Cent Stamp” because it was current (this was a couple of postage hikes ago, and everyone was having to buy those things to pair with their old $0.37 stamps), and because it was something small and of little worth. It felt humble at the time, even though it sounds incredibly pretentious as I type it out now. That’s probably a reflection on the difference between my 27 year old self and my current (33) self.

Anaamika means “the girl with no name” in Hindi, or more colloquially, “anonymous”. Seemed appropriate for a message board.
