Are we though? We are fazing in solar and wind, and fazing coal and oil. Plus, solar and wind can be more distributed. You can’t install a coal plant in your back yard, but you can install solar panels and a wind mill. Grid storage is the big bottle neck, but for the price of a nice car, I can make my house energy independent for the next 15-20 years.
