Straight Dope Birthday List

Just so you don’t feel too alone . . . September 29th.

January 8th - Same day as Elvis, David Bowie and Anubis

October 10, 1985…yes, still a minor. But GO LIBRAS!!! Stuffy, way to be born close to me, and heck, I only live 3 hours from you. Central Coast. Cool shit.

Feb 1st.

I share my birthday with Princess Stephanie and Lisa Marie Presley :o

Go, Aquarius!

September 12, 1968 - the last birthday was, shall we say, a bit…subdued ( A guy at work had his birthday the day before. He said it didn’t affect his birthday a bit.) But that makes me wonder about people with birthdays on days that are associated with tragedy - how long does it take before those days are just associated with their birth for them? For example, I imagine people who were born on December 7th don’t really think much about Pearl Harbor. But I wonder if someone was born before 1941 and lived through it, do they still associate their birthday with the event? Or do they chose to focus on the good things that are associated with the day - like the couple who decided to get married at Ground Zero after meeting there while working on the clean up effort.

Sorry for diverting the thread. Carry on.

Hey! I’m in the same generation as you (late 60’s baby bust) and I resent the implication that I’m becoming a geezer!

I myself prefer the term “old fart”

And I share it with Captain William Bligh.

Go Aries! Fire forever! [sub]me? a pyromaniac? never![/sub]

Zapata was killed in Mexico and the Bataan Deathmarch began on my birthday. :frowning:

Both of our screen name’s start with the letter V(my favorite letter), we’re both in SoCal, and we share the same birthday - kick ass! Hmmm…I wonder if we were born in the same year…? That’s probably pushing it, huh? 1970 here.

As for 9/11, no, it didn’t affect my birthday, on my birthday, but it still shook me up a bit, and made me realize how down the general feeling is going to be at the same time this year. My cousin’s birthday is 12/7, and while he was born, post Pearl Harbor, I always remember it, exactly for that reason.

P.S. We also share our birthday with Kristie McNichol(who I have always loathed, go figure), Hugh Grant, and Adam Sandler, not to mention that it’s also California’s birthday!

24 of August

Groundhog Day, 1975

Close…1965 here.
We also share our birthday with actor Goran Visnijc (sp?)–he plays Dr. Luka on ER. It might also be actor Michael Keaton’s birthday, but I’m not sure.
Yeah, I don’t think I can interest anyone in a big fest this year. I did have quite the blowout, though, on 9-9-99! It was a luau and I called it Tropocalypse Now.
And just for the heck of it, here are some famous Virgos, late August to late September:
Moby
Tim Burton
Richard Gere
Sean Connery
Mel Torme
Maurice Chevalier
Sophia Loren
Stephen King
D.H. Lawrence

Some pretty decent company.

another jimminee Gemini checking in … June 16th

BTW, a great test of the Infamous Birthday Probability trick. By my counting Max Torque called snap on the 19th post.

Well, up to now when people would ask me my birthday. I’ve told them and then said that exact same thing: “Me, Elvis, and David Bowie”.

But from now on I’ll say "Me, Broken Doll and Anubis!

(Although I’m probably in an earlier year.)

Ugly

August 8.

Well, OK, not many May babies. Now I know I’ve given up any anonymity I had on this board. May 7th, 1953.

April 18, 1984. Paul Revere Day and Einstein’s death, among other things.

I sort of liked how the beginning of the book 1984 mentions its being April. I think I was also born sometime after 1, so “the clocks were striking thirteen” would apply. Too bad that later in the book, when Winston starts writing in his journal, we find out it’s before the 18th.

If it makes you feel any better, Ringo, my oldest son’s birthday is May 22nd(as is one of my childhood friend’s, and my cousin’s daughter’s), and for you lonely Libra types, my boyfriend’s birthday is Oct. 2, and my dad’s is Oct. 8.

Just think of them as Dopers by proxy.

16 minutes later and that would be my birthday too, but as it stands it’s August 7
