Oh, I almost forgot to add: **Ass For A Hat** – Haskell’s downtown has a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle’s on hand. You’ll have to part with Ben Franklin to get it, though. ---

Haven’t seen a shout out for **Jefferson’s Reserve**. That is the best small batch I’ve had to date, and try to keep at least one bottle around at all times. I love the **Rare Breed** , and **Basil Hayden** is dynamite. It’s usually **Maker’s Mark** for everyday & footbal games. ---

The next purchase is likely a 1.75 of **Maker’s Mark** , to take camping\* with us over Thanksgiving. I’m not going to waste premium booze on the guys I go with, for they are beknighted and have palates of naugahyde. Maybe we’ll hide a bottle of Antique in the tent, just for the wife and I. - Can you still call it “camping” when it involves 3 fully-loaded trucks, [3 huge tents](http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20075-cat602107_TGP&rid=&indexId=cat602107&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=1&parentType=index&parentId=cat602107&id=0006263), more burners than I have on the stove at home, 7 ice chests, cases of beer and booze, a full turkey w/all the trimmings Thanksgiving dinner, wine with all dinners, Contreau for “afters,” and cigars? ---

And just since I have some and everyone else has mentioned it…I made myself a hell of a good julep this weekend with the Old Weller Antique. I’m a bit of a novice when it comes to those, but I really got it right with this weekend’s effort. ---

Van Winkle 15 should go for around $50. The 20 hits around $90 at my local bodega. I’ll spring for the 20 about once a year. ---

The only other Pappy that I’ve seen around here is the 23. The merchant was trying to get about $200 for it. I had to pass. ---
