This thread has three purposes: 1. How many people know the Straight Dope is on Fark at the moment? Does anyone want to know? Is this fact irrelevant or is it not? 2. I’ve always wanted to know what would happen to a link inserted in the subject line 3. I used to have 996 posts. Now I’ve got 997. ---

Hamadryad: No, I honestly didn’t know that. Oh well, I suppose this thread rates with Tom Cruise divorce notifications and other such stuff. I’m getting near my 1000th post. I’m not posting again until I decide what to use it for. What should I do? Photoshop Manhattan and Arnold Winkelreid? Do a thread called “One Bad Mammogram and the Kab’ah Goes Up?” Start starving myself to death on the Internet? Do everyone a favour and make 1000 my last post? Any ideas? ---

I found SDMB via a Fark link to one of Cecil’s classics. And yet I haven’t visited Fark itself in ages. It’ll be interesting to see what it looks like after all this time. ---

Fark was just voted of the Fifty Best Websites of the Year by Time Magazine. Dropzone: Thank you so much for your interest. It’s a very pleasant accompaniment to my 1000th post. Well, what would you like to know? **Is there cancer in my family?** Why, yes, there is, but in my opinion some of it got there through environmental influences. **How do I feel about parachuting nude over Mecca?** I must admit that I won’t feel confident until spring (northern fall) when the effects of my diet will have surely kicked in. **Where did I learn to explode?** I must have a natural talent.
