I really liked Of Miracles and Men.
The 30 for 30 series is by and large very well done. Just like pretty much all TV, theres probably a few that you might like more than others, but for the most part its solid through and through.
I’ll add my support to Hillsborough, which was unbelievable. I also really enjoyed the recent Of Miracles and Men… In addition… Jordan Rides the Bus, 4 Days in October, June 17 1994, Catching Hell are probably my favorites (I don’t know that Catching Hell is technically a 30 for 30… but, whatever…)
But even the ones I didn’t mention are really good… (Elway to Marino, The Day the Series Stopped, Playing for the Mob… off the top of my head stand out)
Many of the 30 for 30 shows were directed by well respected filmmakers.
I have not seen all of them but I have liked each one I’ve seen.
There didn’t seem to be any way that I would find a documentary about the Baltimore Colts band interesting. I was wrong, *The Band That Wouldn’t Die *is great. It was directed by Barry Levinson.
(Emphasis mine.)
I came to mention this one. It’s deeply fascinating and endlessly rewatchable for me. It talks about everything else that happened the day of O.J. Simpson’s famous low-speed car chase. It’s kind of remarkable how many significant things in sports news happened on that day, through sheer coincidence.
There is no outrage because the vast majority of people don’t understand the economics of it and don’t know how to protest or organize themselves to get such outrages eliminated IMHO.
