**JColdfire** as an American, I would like to point out that Slavery was fully and completely legal in the USA for many years. We look back on those times with shame and regret for treating human beings as if they were something less. Some abortion opponents and animal rights activists feel similarly about the unborn and animals. They feel that in a more enlightened future, we will look back on today with shame and regret for the horrors being perpetrated against these groups. ---

I understand, Cheesesteak. Society’s values change over time. And who knows, maybe abortions WILL one day be universally considered primitive and inhumane. But in some societies, this is clearly not the the case today. Back to our Bad Motown Puns Fest, already in progress. ---

Oh, and of course, there are those who would still own slaves today if they had the opportunity. YMMV. It’s the _majority_ of Americans that look back in shame at slavery, just like the majority of Americans felt A-OK about it 200 years ago. And that was precisely my point. ---

Mermaid, continued sniping, in the remediation thread of all places, is a bit gauche. This is the second time you have accused me of misquoting you. There is still an invitation for you to indicate exactly where you were misquoted in your original thread. I’m sure the moderators would take substantiated claims of misquoting quite seriously, so I would encourage you to put forth the effort. “I spent a good part of yesterday trying to convince people that it is just not a good idea to have sex with the family pooch.” - mermaid Hopefully I’m not the only one genuinely curious which dopers have been arguing against you from a pro-bestiality stance. I also copied my original quote and your interpretation of said quote and asked how you derived your paraphrasing of it. I hope Mods do take substantiated claims of misquoting quite seriously because it is you who is doing the misquoting and you are one of two who are hijacking this thread and trying to bait me into responding to a thread that I feel has run its course. I will not respond to being baited. Now stop doing exactly what you are acusing me of and either start your _own_ thread or leave me the fuck alone. ---
