I nearly missed the fact that my charter membership was expiring. It looks like I jsut got in under the wire. I missed it because I haven’t been here for a while. Was there some kind of e-mail reminder sent out? If so, I missed it and I’m at fault. If not, it might be something to consider doing in the future. ---

One about a week before the deadline, and another two days before. Is your email in your profile current? Do you have the “Receive Email from Administrators” checkbox checked? Or perhaps they’re in your spam folder? ---

I guess it ended up in the spam folder. I’ll just add a filter that redirects anything containing “[straightdope.com](http://straightdope.com)” to the in box. I think that’ll work. ---

Hi. I’m kinda new here, but I’ve posted w/i the past few weeks. I have cash or money order, but I can’t use plastic or paypal to pay for my membership. Could someone possibly email me an address and I could send them the money to approve/pay my membership? The moderators were nice enough to steer me here, and I’m hoping that someone would consider me a candidate for cash-for-credit card payment. Thank you. ---

I am a humble supplicant with an earnest plea. I do not have a credit card and I am too proud of my humility to ask a close friend or family member for assistance. Therefore, I am respectfully asking for help from a stranger. Well, perhaps not a total stranger, because I have been lurking on these boards for the last two years, at least. I visit daily and gnash my teeth in frustration when I can’t join in. Back in the late ‘eighties, I bought _The Straight Dope_ paperback and loved it so much that a few years ago, a late-comer to the Internet, I googled Straight Dope and discovered this extraordinary place. It has held me captive ever since. And so, I ask now for help. I am prepared to send a money order for the subscription price of $14.95 to any Doper who can help me in my hour of need.
