I have no fear or hatred for homosexuality - emotionally, I’m basically indifferent on the idea. For me, it’s the equivalent of straight women telling me they’re attracted to Brad Pitt - I believe them but that doesn’t make me attracted to him or cause me to hate or fear him. Personally, I think there’s little difference between a heterosexual who thinks a gay man just needs to find the right women and a homosexual who believes every straight man is secretly repressing his own gay feelings (or a straight man who thinks all women fantasize about other women). Just because you find somebody sexually attractive doesn’t mean everyone else must feel the same way. ---

Instead of piling on the men here who consider themselves straight but have had sexual encounters with other men (who I would mostly consider some shade of bisexual, but who cares?), why not blame our phobic society that permits bisexuality in men even less than homosexuality? I mean, I think some of the posters here like Diogenes are esentially correct in their overall interpretation, but I don’t see what makes them so uncomfortable that they have to trumpet their straight bonafides every third post. :rolleyes: ---

I’m not uncomfortable, and you’re right that it’s a phobic culture that makes people reluctant to self-identify as anything other than “100% straight.” The only reason I did it was because I objected to the suggestion that such an identification was never true, or that claiming such an identification necessarily made one homophobic.
