Oh, I forgot(sorry about the double post): -I liked “Gone with the Wind”(the movie and the book) because I liked the setting. -I cook. every day. I like to cook. Though I can cancel a large chunk of these out because my vocabulary in regards to clothing is as follows: “Shirt” “Jeans” “Slacks” “Socks” “Briefs”(well, I have heard of boxers but never tried them) “Shoes” “Hat” I have no idea what color coordination is, no idea what the latest style, gay or straight, is, never used any kind of hair product beyond shampoo, and always get a “trim” at the babershop. Fashion is a foriegn concept to me except for the terms “Casual” and “Formal”. Basically, the same as sports as in(IMHO): Completely abritrary and mostly shallow. ---

Er, if some people had seen only certain photos from the recent mini-LonDope, then yes, they may assume that I was a lesbian. Or bi at any rate. 🙂 Also, I play soccer - apparantly in Britain, its a very “lesbian” thing to do. ---

I have cats… too damned many of them… but being une femme I suppose that isnt gay. I had a reputation for being gay in middle school, it didnt help that I had no idea at the time what gay meant.😃 I have had my hair VERY short. Its long now, down to my ass. Which brings in another problem. I am very butch: jeans, t shirts, boots and a quilted denim jacket now that it is cold. But I am also very over the top with my gestures and body language. So the other day I hear a woman say “Someone needs to teach _him_ how to act as a woman!” WOO HOO! I’m a tranny! YEAH! Oh, and the thousands upon thousands of times I have voiced my opinion against homophobia … my coworkers probably think the hubby and child are camoflage:D Oh yeah and I own a truck… but out here in the west lots of women drive trucks. Although whether they hang out bus windows and drool over a great looking truck with an awesome paint job or not is another issue. ---

My mother was convinced I was a lesbian for awhile when I was in my teens. I’ve always been involved in some sort of theatrical or artsy-fartsy thing, a good many of my friends, both male and female, are gay, I did some work for a gay rights group and for an AIDS organization, and most damning of all (in Mom’s slightly out-of-touch opinion) was that I liked both punk rock AND showtunes. FTR, I happened to fall in love with and marry a wonderful man and I’m monogamous, but had I fallen in love with a woman, I’d have been monogamous there, too. I have a friend who claims this makes me one of the few “true bisexuals” he’s known. ---

I forgot the showtunes thing. I grew up on showtunes and could sing the WHOLE soundtrack to **Fiddler on the Roof**. (Maybe thats were my fascination with Jewish history and culture comes from.) I also grew up singin along with Harry Belafonte. All albums of my Mom’s. And I was a Judy Garland fan as soon as I could read the TV Guide for myself. Spent one whole summer in my teens watching all her old movies on the TV ( this was before VHS ) I spent another summer watching PBS productions of Shakespeare. Anything that had **Helen Mirren** in it was _de riguer._ ---

One of my ex-boyfriend was a little small, a little effeminate, and a little flamboyant. I, on the other hand, am something of a tomboy, and had rather short hair. Some bright soul put two and two together and decided that we were both gay and were using each other as beards. Granted, anybody who lived on my floor might have had evidence to the contrary, but that’s maybe getting a bit TMI. ---

Actually it is not unheard of for gay men and lesbians to be intimate. How do I know this, you ask? I’ve read some really interesting books. 😃 ---

Another vote for “love of showtunes” checking in. This was a message board several years ago, where I enthusiastically praised several then-current shows. (At the time I was single, had a nice chunk of disposible income with only me and the GF of the month to dispose it upon, so I was in the habit of catching the shuttle to NYC almost monthly to see shows). The message board dicussions didn’t mention the GF - no reason to; the subject was the shows, not the people I saw them with) and to my surprise, when I later posted about my then-girlfriend, several people noted that they had assumed I was gay, based solely on the musicals. Now, I fully admit that I saw _Rent_ over and over again, like a mental patient. But I still don’t see how that made me a gay mental patient. - Rick ---

There were a few enthusiastic Gay students who wanted to start an on-campus organization but they had a really difficult time getting Gay support, seems the little queers were a bit shy. Anyway, there was a minimum # of members required for any student organization to get official recognition. So, when asked by a Gay friend for our support, about six straight friends and I signed up and actively participated in group activities. This confused lots of people who _had thought_ we were straight. Eventually more and more Homosexuals became comfortable joining and being Out on campus. As the group found new life my friends and I eventually dropped out (It was just getting too _GAY!!!_). Also, some folks thought I was gay because I liked to put on make-up and wear dresses. I never saw the connection. . ---

Yes, all the time. I like to cook. I use the word “elegant”. I don’t like sports anymore. I have never been married, and I don’t date. I too have good reasons for this. Really. Honest. I used to wear an earring and pony tail. I didn’t stop because it was gay, though. I own a small bird. Jesus, maybe I am gay. ---

Let’s see: - I absolutely _love_ sports–watching and playing (albeit not that old cliche, softball) - I’m quite fond of flannel shirts and menswear in general. - Half my male friends at my old school were gay. - I wear no make-up, little jewelry and spend less than 10 minutes on my hair most days. - I once described a female celebrity as being “hot” rather than “pretty”. -I’ve never been married–although at my age that’s not abnormal. ---

Some people on campus think I’m gay. For some reason, they’re all Korean.I have no idea why they think I’m gay. -Probably because I hang out with girls most of the time since the guys I know are hanging out with their girlfriends or in the “HURRHURR It’s college! Let’s go and get wasted!” phase or the opposite, “Wanna watch anime, huh huh???” phase. - I sing Backstreet Boys for people’s birthdays. - I have no clue what’s going on in the sport world. - I say “suck my dick” a lot. They can think whatever they want…and suck my dick. ---

Well, I accidently walled smack into the middle of the annual Gay Pride parade in New York. I’m all like “look…I’m not hear for your homo parade…I just came over to Madison to exchange this stretch shirt at the Banana Republic!” I had a friend who turned out to be gay. The other guys were like “I can’t believe he was gay!” -He went shoping every weekend -Large amounts of “product” in the bathroom -Constantly singing show tunes -Talks with an efeminate lisp Dude…how much gayer do you want? ---

Very recently, Cultural diversity training…toward the very end of training. “When I helped organize the Twin Cities first Gay/Lesbian Film Festival…” (You should have seen the daggers from the two self described “Conservative Christians” that had all sorts of “my workplace perscutes me for being Christian because they make me work with people I don’t LIIIIIKKKKKKEEEE” complaints during our conversation on tolerating religous diversity.
