# Strange day: I have to commend Christina Aguilera

At the moment a lot of the videos on MTV consist of unbelievably beautyful women prancing around. There is nothing wrong with that, I like watching Beyoncé Knowles (sp?), Nodesha or Ashanti just as the next guy.
However, it was quite a refreshing change to see Christina Aguilera’s video “Fighter”. She managed to look positively ugly in that one, which is a surprise, since I have pegged her as someone who sells CDs based on her looks rather than her music. Guess what: I love the song as well and the video is so imaginative and different, I am seriously impressed!
Ok, where’s the debate? I guess there is none 😉

I don’t think she looked ugly per se, rather a sort of mainstream-ized version of goth/punk influences. She looks interesting, and that was obviously the whole point. I’m guessing she’s going for the sort of “look how different I am” conformity that Kelly Osbourne made popular again a year or so back. But maybe she’s being sincere about it: time will tell, I guess.
