He could be lying, but he’s really not the type to bring this up for the hell of it without telling you later that he was just pulling your leg. ---

My very first crush, when I was 10 was for this guy named, I kid you not, Forrest Strange. he was a geeky kid, hair sticking out in clumps every which way, but a real sweetie. My Mom’s best friend at her job at Western Union in the '50’s was Merry Christmas, and yes, that’s how they spelled her name. * * * You sing in my consciousness like a counterpoint to my life. Went to high school with Anita Holiday. There was a guy at my last company named Mike Hunt. I couldn’t believe it when I met him; we share the same last name and I can’t count how many times people have asked me “Are you sure your name isn’t Mike? Yuk yuk.” What were his parents thinking? In fact, there were a few names that I wanted to give my son, if not for the last name: Isaac (after Newton), and Richard (Dick) after Feynman. ---

I have a client who recently married, and thank God she doesn’t do the hyphenation thing, otherwise her last name would be Strange-Oder. I used to work with a Dick Black. Not Richard, not Rich, but Dick. * * * Pardon me while I burst into flames. ---

I’m not making this up but when I worked at a fitness club this guy came in every morning and his name was **Leo Lion** I figure he must still be being taunted in his adult years why else come to the gym every morning…poor bastard ---

Knew a Vietnamese guy in college named Long Doan. Everybody in the dorm called him “Long Dong” of course. He finally got fed up with it, went down to the courthouse and got a nice American name. Guess what he chose? Richard. Poor guy had no idea. Need I tell you what he was called for the rest of his college career? (Lest you think this guy was being treated with obscene cruelty: He was a great guy, and everyone in the dorm loved him. The guys in the dorm were just giving him the business. He was definitely one of the gang.) ---
