# Strange Link Results

I sincerely hope I’m not missing something obvious here.
Trying to recall a web address, I searched for an old thread entitled ‘Queen Elizabeth’s drivers license’ where I knew it had been given. On [page 3](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=397588&page=3) I found post #109 submitted by **sciurophobic** and clicked on his link.
Instead of taking me to the Royal Website as expected, imagine my surprise when I was presented with a blank SD ‘reply to thread’ page. My curiosity aroused, just for the hell of it I clicked the ‘reply with quote’ option on **sciurophobic** ’s post and, instead of finding the Royal Website address there, an SD ‘reply to thread’ address was enclosed in quotes.
I also remembered that **APB** had linked to the same Royal Website in the same thread. I found it on [page 2](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=397588&page=2) post #99. Clicking on **APB** ’s first link (he includes three, one after the other) produced normal results, as does clicking on the ‘reply with quote’ option in the same post.
Does anybody have an idea as to what is occurring here? Obviously I am not desperate to know but the incident is surely noteworthy.

The simplest explanation is that **sciurophobic** had the wrong thing in his clipboard when he pasted the address for that link, and just nobody’s noticed until now.
