When I started watching 2x09 it had slipped my mind what the episode was going to be like until just before it happened. It was pretty good, but while the songs were useful exposition, there wasn’t really anything that worked as a memorable, stand-along song. Buffy did it better. (Speaking of, that mention of bunnies couldn’t have been coincidental, even if using the phrase “I have a theort” was.) Also, K-pop. ---

It seems pretty common. Figure that 80% of these actors started in High School Theater and probably excelled compared to their peers. * * * * * * I would rate **Buffy’s** _Once More, With Feeling_ and **Scrubs’** _My Musical_ at the top of the list and **Lucifer’s** _Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam_ the worst. I would put _Subspace Rhapsody_ with other solid ones like **Community’s** _Regional Holiday Music_, **Psych’s** _Psych: The Musical_ and **How I met your Mother’s** _Girls Versus Suits_. **Flash’s** _Duet_ was kind of weak and **Fringe’s** _Brown Betty_ was uneven. ---

True but still all the more impressive to me for it’s not being uncommon? Anyway, not sure how the goofy dark goofy tempo is working but still loving the season. Nurse Chapel’s essential ghosting of Spock really doesn’t fit with the development previous. Potentially my ignorance showing but do we know of this Carol and the unborn from TOS or otherwise? ---

Not wife and in original timeline Kirk never even knew she was pregnant. Character returned in the Kelvin timeline (reboot movies) as a science officer on the Enterprise and she was important in the second movie. This is a surprising change for the Kirk character, that he knows Carol is pregnant. ---

I know I saw the movie … but I think my brain has edited out the whole David bit. I seriously don’t recall that scene. The Picard unknown son bit now makes more sense as a call back. ---

Yeah. I understand my not remembering three much. Better forgotten. And two? The memory is filled with Khan!!! It must have pushed David out of there. Back to the ep! No inadvertent songs by the doctor about having just murdered someone? I get that he feels no guilt but not having any residual strong emotional processing? Again enjoyed the ep … but using it to explicitly say the characters’ emotional work rather than showing it … and some of it seeming off from what has previously been shown … made it less than it could have been. ---
