My wife when mentioning how some woman she was talking to mentioned how unusual my reaction was in relation to the situation, I said not unusual at all and she said:
“Oh she is thinking you’re a normal person or something because she doesn’t know you”
:)That was so sweet, I want not a normal person on my tombstone.

While visiting an art exhibit of Old Spanish Masters with a guy I really liked (but, alas, it was not meant to be), he told me, “These artists would have loved you. You have the face of a wounded saint.”
That is my favorite compliment I have ever received. :o

After helping a co-worker jump start his car he told me “Thanks, I take back some of the thing I said about you.”
Someone else referred to me as being “evil, but in a cuddly way”.

“One day, you’ll make some nice girl very confused.”
It was said in the context of her basically telling me: “Don’t hit on me. I like you just fine, but I have a boyfriend. Besides, you’re kind of a weirdo.”
My reply: “What do you mean, some day? Been there, done that.” I probably took it as much more of a positive than she intended it to be.
A person I once knew described herself like this on her MyFace-or-whateveritwas page: “I’m kind of retarded. But I’m also kind of amazing.” I can only assume that someone told her that, and she decided to own it. And it was completely spot on. I would never have told her that to her face, but I had certainly had the same thought. And if I had told her, I would have meant it as a compliment. It’s exactly what I always loved about her.

It makes sense if you hang out with circus performers. They like their sparkle so much, they sneeze glitter.

Well, someone once told me they couldn’t bear to eat the dessert I’d made because it looked like shit…
…as the dessert in question was a food sculpture designed for an art final—the ingredients including gourmet fudge and candy corn—it meant I’d succeeded perfectly, and I thanked the lady, cheerfully.
