Street Address = zero?

I don’t get it. How is this not a normal number?

Since this 21-year-old zombie has arisen, I’ll mention that I had a friend who lived in an apartment in LA with the address of 1531/2A - so you can imagine how many dwellings they had to squeeze into that block after the fact.

I once lived in an address that was 608 1/2 9th St. It was a “mother-in-law” house that was an addendum to the house on 608. It was a fully self-contained small one bedroom house except it was somehow on the same water system as the other house, with the same water meter, and my landlord just took the water bill and had my neighbor and I each pay half.

At some point that house was demolished, because years later when visiting that old neighborhood it was simply gone as if it didn’t exist.

I once lived at number 211 1/2. It was a house that was in the lot behind a shop that was number 211.
