It does to me. Don’t forget, when **2 1/2 Men** klilled off Charlie, Dharma and Greg were prospective buyers of his house.

I’m surprised they didn’t have Vernee Watson show up as the [all-purpose nurse](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BZmQ1YjBiYmUtODdlNy00MDQxLThlMjgtZGNhYzNjNzY3ZjRiXkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_FMjpg_UX1000_.jpg) at the mental hospital.

I wouldn’t doubt it since Charlie Sheen made a cameo on BBT.

I didn’t remember that, but Googling, it was several years before his departure from Two and a Half Men. I didn’t think he and Chuck Lorre settled their differences, but he did appear on another comedy on Max called Bookie (also from Chuck Lorre) and that was three years ago, so maybe we’ll see him here?

Huh? My point about isn’t about geek humor; it’s that narratively the show has to move beyond a universe of the episode structure it has used so far and develop some kind of narrative arc for the season.

Episode 5, no original series cameos this time. But it did have Charlie Barnett from _Russian Doll,_ another universe-twisting fantasy.

You would think a group of nerds would be a little more keyed into the Prime Directive. Or do all of these universes cease to exist when they exit them?

I think that the issue is that the plots are pretty thin. This episode was basically get laid, cause trouble by introducing the concept of ownership, get a rock, and leave. It is a fun series but hopefully for next season they introduce some plot that extends between worlds that gives them something to work towards.

I don’t think Chuck Lorre does that kind of thing, his sitcoms are strictly played for laughs. He’s no Michael Schur or Bill Lawrence.

There is the question of who is sending messages to Stuart. I think the show will explore that point later.

Speaking of Star Trek and the Prime Directive, I noticed that the episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes. And really, it was mostly Kripke\* breaking the Prime Directive, although Bert’s need for monogamy didn’t help.

What I couldn’t understand was, the only piece of red quartz was on the guy’s necklace. Instead of trying to steal it, why not just ask him where he found it?

\* I thought it was hilarious when one of the natives said something about “sociawism” 😄

Have people been sticking around post credits? There are title cards with notes from Chuck Lorre. I thought the one from this episode was kind of amusing.

I couldn’t get into BBT but I am enjoying this show. No idea who any of these people are but it doesn’t really seem to matter. Did they ever address Kripke’s speech impediment? It seems a little cringey.

A lot of people don’t like the original Big Bang Theory because of how it exaggerates the nerdiness to the extreme, making them unrealistic and objects of ridicule. But it’s a sitcom, exaggeration for comedic effect is how they work. Kripke’s speech impediment is one of those exaggerations that was funny in small doses (like most of these characters he was only occasionally recurring), but now in this different context is starting to be annoying. It’s still a sitcom, but single-camera is a different bunny to a multi-cam live-audience version.
