Stuck near Auckland airport in the middle of the night, what to do?

Ah no, you would need to find somewhere to stash your luggage.

If you haven’t made other arrangements, you can stay at my place but it’s a tiny, crowded one room place, so you’d be either on the couch or airbed on floor. Also I’m 45 minutes from the airport, when the traffic is playing nice. You’d at least get a shower, a few hours of sleep and coffee/tea/toast. We’ll need to leave early to allow for check in, traffic and general dicking around.

Not sure about how fast you’d get through immigration, customs and bio-security. I know it’s late at night, but jumbos get frightened on the long dark over water flights to here, and end up travelling in flocks :stuck_out_tongue: Last year I picked up a tourist at 0100, her flight was the last of 3 arriving over a 20 min period :smack: , took her 2 hours to get through.

Remember the food import restrictions, many people have been whacked with a $200 fine after forgetting about an apple in their luggage. Read the banned list, there are bins to toss anything in, or declare it and see if it’s allowed in. If you have used camping gear, that’ll be treated/cleaned. That will take time too. And pack your shoes at the top of your bag if they’ve been in a rural environment in the last 30 days, they will be checked.

There is some form of security on domestic flights, but on <90 seats I think there’s not much. You do need to comply with all the liquids/nail file stuff when leaving on international flights though.

Anyway, PM or email is in my profile
