Student Kidnaps the Eucharist... PZ Myers to the Rescue!

Given his past, would that not be his blessed Parabellum-Pistole or Mauser?

You’ve read over your posts and realized that you’re an idiot?

I’m not some early-twenties grad-school kid.

And it doesn’t take a law degree to point out the holes in your arguments , the inconsistencies in your logic, and the pure hatred you have for people who you think have it better than you for reasons you can’t apprehend.

I’ve treated you the way your posts deserve.

The problem with that claim is that he rather obviously ISN’T helping those people.

Ha ha. No.

Never said you were. I wasn’t even thinking that, honestly. I didn’t mean that as an insult, just a statement of fact.

Oh, I must have missed where you pointed out the hole in my argument that when a guy in a robe says some words over a cracker, it remains exactly the same as it was before the guy said the words. Perhaps you’ll indulge me by reminding me of the holes in my argument and the inconsistency in my logic here.

What the hell are you talking about? I always assume the best intentions. Every single lawyer I have lost respect for, I can tell you exactly what unethical things they did to lose my respect. I don’t hate anybody just because of their job. There are good lawyers and bad lawyers, just like there are good probation officers and bad probation officers. When a probation officer does something unethical, they lose my respect; I don’t defend them blindly just because we share the same profession, unlike you.

And believe me, the love of Jesus has come shining through. You’ve done your savior proud.

I’ve treated you the way your posts deserve.

How about when you get back from your trip, we ignore each other for a while?

Nope. You cross my path like an ass, you’re going to get treated like an ass. I dind’t even know who you WERE until you started shitting in two threads I was reading at the same time.

And the only way I know you is as that guy who thinks people are wrong when he cannot comprehend their motives.

So you do what you like, but I’m certainly not going to accommodate you.

You realize that as a Christian, you aren’t supposed to treat people like this, right?

Christians who don’t follow what Jesus taught tweak off non-Christians. Makes them want to do things to spite you…like fuck with your wafers.

CiNOs (Christians in Name Only) are the greatest obstacle to creating the world Jesus describes. Don’t be “that guy”.

I asked before, but you did not respond…so I ask again… I suggest you do anything you like regarding the offender so long as you a) are kind, and b)if he needs anything share what you have with him. As a Christian, what about that wouldn’t work for you?

On the other hand, one wonders whether the man Himself would’ve kept his temper under similar circumstances.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it; and he gave to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body… DAMMIT, Judas, get the bread OUT of your nose RIGHT NOW… Peter, do NOT encourage him. Food is NOT a toy. Do you want to sit at the kids’ table?”

Yeah, I always hated when Our Lord got stuck to the roof of my mouth. I wasn’t sure if it was considered sacrilege to dislodge Him with my finger so I just had to work Him loose with my tongue.

One does not have to be a Catholic to think you’re a graceless, bigoted idiot, Shirley. One just has to have talked to you for ten, maybe fifteen minutes. It’s a very ecumenical revelation.

You do realize that this is an extraordinarily simple and mostly incorrect analysis of what I and others are “supposed” to do, right?
As to your question, I can’t respond if I have no idea what in the world you’re talking about.

Kindness doesn’t mean allowing oneself to be hurt.

Sharing doesn’t extend to the point where one’s own sacrifice hurts one’s community. If some stranger comes up and asks me for half my loaf of bread, yet it is all I have (and still insufficient) to feed my family, it is no sin to pint him toward the soup kitchen.

Is this what you mean by pointing out holes in peoples’ arguments? Saying “Nope, you’re wrong” or “you don’t know anything”? Pretty weak. You need to provide some evidence, you know, show your work.

Please elaborate, keeping “turn the other cheek,” “love your enemies,” and “let him take your coat also” in mind. Turning the other cheek, to me, definitely means you should allow yourself to be hurt rather than retaliate.

Cite? Chapter and verse? Matthew 25 would beg to differ (sheep and the goats), as would Luke 12 (give no thought to what you will eat, god will take care of you, etc…)

You’re the one who is insisting that I have to act a certain way.

Why do you say that I have to act a certain way?

I’m not saying you should act a certain way, Jesus is. Your disagreement is with Him, and His teachings, not me.

I agree that it is simple. But how is it incorrect?

That is the problem. Christians are struck dumb when people suggest they emulate Christ. Often, they don’t even recognize when the Way of Christ is being demonstrated.

Again, you can believe this, but it is not what Jesus demonstrated time and again, and ultimately on the Cross.

I appreciate your opinion. Just don’t ascribe it to Jesus. What he taught and demonstrated.

Have you read the teachings of Jesus?

  1. What newscrasher said.

  2. I am not saying you have to act a certain way. You made specific claims about christianity without backing them up. I asked you to back up your claims, and provided cites from the bible (novel idea, huh?) that contradict what you claim are christian beliefs. All I am asking for is some evidence that christian beliefs are what you say they are. Frankly, I don’t care how you act; in fact, if you acted in accordance with the bible’s teachings you wouldn’t be half as much fun to play with.

Yes, because ascribing wild speculation and then throwing one Bible verse at a person is excellent technique.

Where? In context please.

See above.
“If someone came along and stabbed you, and made ready to stab you again, you’d have to let them because otherwise you’re not a good Christian because three verses in Matthew say so” is neither debate nor proof nor refutation.

Jesus Christ, Miller, I get it. I’m scum, I’m stupid, I think *Muslims *worship pigs. We all get it. Do you have anything useful to add to the discussion, or are you just going to throw the exact same insults at me over and over?

And, to save you the trouble, allow me to post your reply to this post for you:

Ok, saved you the trouble. Can you give it a rest, now? Or don’t, I don’t care. I know I haven’t come off as the most rational, cool-headed person in this thread, but Jesus Jumping Christ, you are making me look like the paragon of reason. At least I’m making arguments, even though you disagree with them. You’re just insulting over and over, adding absolutely nothing.

It beats your method, ascribing wild speculation.

Post 230. And I can already see the future lawyer’s argument, you never mentioned the word “christian” in that post, but you sure as hell implied it. See, when you argue, as you obviously intend to, that you weren’t talking about what christians are supposed to do in that thread, you are arguing in bad faith. No matter how many veins pop out of your forehead as you scream about what an idiot I am. You know that you were talking about christian beliefs there.

Letting them stab you is what a good christian is supposed to do. It’s what Jesus did. Now, it’s not what a rational person would do, but we’re not talking about that, we’re talking about what the bible tells christians to do. Believing that following the bible is going to lead to rationality is pretty naive, if you’ve actually read the bible, which I am beginning to suspect you haven’t, since you can’t quote a verse from it to save your life.

Whaaaa?! Wrestle with your own strawmen.

I can accept that you don’t want to address any of the questions I have raised. How is my “simple” two step suggestion above incorrect? Meh, I don’t expect an answer. But hopefully it will prompt you to think about what you actually believe. Maybe read some of what Jesus actually said, actually did.

It is often difficult for a CiNO to discover, let alone admit, that he does not actually ascribe to the teachings of Jesus.

If you’ve got both sides covered here, why attempt to engage me? You’ve obviously got my side without even having to consult me.

You have raised nothing. You have spoken in generalities and you have assumed things about me and my religion that are patently untrue.

Oooooooooh. ZING!
