I cannot parse this except to take it that you consider the two actions to be equivalent.
Removing the tools of killing from a person who wishes to do killing does in fact change the outcome.

There are 25,000 cities in the U.S.A… How many high school kids were actually involved in these time away school exercises?
I think these kids should be made aware that neither their fellow students, the school administrators, the various police departments, or the FBI responded to this monsters REPEATED threats to commit mass murder. How many death threats are now considered normal? Maybe these students could take time out of their busy day to demand that people like this monster be locked up until they are no longer a threat to society? This monster needed a lot more help than he received. Maybe these school kids could have helped him BEFORE he became a mass murderer?
You tell 'em BigT. You really understand the protestors.
“Maybe I can natter on about things other than taking away my killing machine/penis extensions until everybody gets so sick of me that they just stop reading.”
I’ve made sure that my kids understand ALL sides of the issue. And that they can “protest” on their own time, not when they’re supposed to be in school.
Did you remember to tell your kids that their friends, and fellow students, who repeatedly talk, or brag, about killing someone, or committing mass murder, should possibly receive voluntary, or court-ordered involuntary, care?
Why are you thinking about my penis?
Hey, you’re the one with the dirty mind.
Do you somehow think that they are unaware?
It was students that turned him in to LEO. LEO that essentially said that their hands were tied because there was nothing that could legally be done to remove the kid’s guns from his possession. They had him evaluated by mental health professionals, but they were unable to declare him insane enough to take any actions against him. There really is very little else they could have done with the way the guns laws in Florida were.
Now, because of the actions of these kids, the legislature was pressured to add laws that will allow LEO to remove guns from someone’s possession easier. Had the laws that these kids pushed for been on the books, this tragedy could have been averted.
That is what they should be made aware of.
That is part of what the bill they pressured into existence does. Sounds like rather than criticism, you should be offering praise.
Oh, so it’s actually the student’s fault. Nothing at all that adults could have done, it’s all on the students.
Ah, so it’s the kids fault they got shot.
But yes, on your advice, I will be sure to tell my kids that these kind of people should receive care. Sounds like telling them this should solve everything.
Do you really think it’s the “kids” fault they were shot? That’s your idea? What an interesting strawman. Maybe you are not the best person to be telling your kids anything about this issue? just sayin’
Don’t forget to explain how an inanimate object can magically leap into the air and shoot anyone without a human being deciding to pull the trigger.
Jesus, this is tiring. No, I don’t think it’s their fault. Perhaps you can explain the point of your statement that the kids need to be aware that “their friends, and fellow students, who repeatedly talk, or brag, about killing someone, or committing mass murder, should possibly receive voluntary, or court-ordered involuntary, care.” Because it sure sounds like you are trying to put some responsibility for it onto my kids. But I’m willing to be enlightened to whatever brilliant point you were actually trying to make there.
Also ironic that you complain about strawmen, and then in the very next fucking paragraph, argue against magical guns that fire on their own. I don’t think many people are making that argument. It’s more along the lines of, if my kid has to face either a disturbed teen with a gun or a disturbed teen with no gun, I would prefer the latter. I’m guessing you’ll take option C, no disturbed kids at all. To which I say, who’s arguing for magic now?
Can you please explain it to me so that I understand ALL sides of the issue? Seriously. Feel free to talk to me like I’m an adolescent. I’m not sure I understand even one side.

How many times does a psychopath have repeat his threat to commit mass murder before someone actually does something about it?
This monster needed help BEFORE he had a chance to become a monster.
I’m arguing for better mental health care, court ordered if the situation calls for it. If you see something, say something. A firearm doesn’t pull its own trigger. A bomb doesn’t build itself.
Human beings commit murder. Human beings commit mass murder. Identify, and help/aid/cure/imprison the human beings who are claiming/bragging/threatening to commit mass murder BEFORE they can commit mass murder. Or even one murder.

Nice try, but logic isn’t going to work on folks like Clothahump. It never does. He’s just going to throw out ad hominem attacks on anybody with absolutely nothing to back up his claims.
