Studio 60 - 10/9 (The West Coast Delay)

I guess I’m in the minority, I like S60 and think most of the sketch comedy has been pretty good. I really enjoyed science/schmience. The ADD bit was not funny, but maybe they were trying to show something that was “old” so it would make sense when it was/was not plagarized.

I think 30 Rock is promising simply because (a) it’s got Alec Baldwin, who can be a riot when he wants to, and (b) I think the promos of the show have been pretty funny.

And the format (straight comedy, 30 minutes) is going to be much better-suited for the subject matter anyway. I’m going to be really surprised if it’s worse than Studio 60.

I’m less hopeful after reading Tim Goodman’s review, since I rarely disagree with him.

Danny’s the producer (the equivalent of Lorne Michaels). Matt’s the head writer (the equivalent of Tina Fey). Danny replaced Judd Nelson’s character and Matt presumedly took the head writer spot from Ricky and Ron.

My favorite part was something small; the scene where the guys are peeking through the blinds in Matt’s office at Harriet’s date and Simon starts poking his fingers out as he realizes the window is missing.

YES! I had to watch that bit a couple of times to catch the dialogue. Loved it.

Danny and Matt should have gone to the rest of the writers and asked them to turn in the offending writer. If they’re all so scared for their jobs and want respect from Matt and Danny, they should be jumping over each other trying to be the first to turn the jackass in. I would have. “HE’S Spartacus!”

I was expecting Matt tell Ricky and Ron that the *whole staff * was fired if they couldn’t give up the plagerist. (Except for Ricky and Ron. Can’t fire them.) That would have been the logical move. None of these guys have been producing anything funny for years anyway.

Couldn’t buy it. Wanted to, but couldn’t.
